Nobody recognized me
 

I went to a wedding on Saturday and there were people there that I had grown up with, aunts and uncles that saw me ever since I was like--born! I said Hi to all of them tagging along behind my sister and they said Hi back but kind of looked at me weird...and I just thought it was kind of rude, like why are these people who I knew since I was young giving me this weird look as if they've never seen me before? then most of them asked my sister
"Who's that girl that came with you?"
My sister said it was ME.
Another one asked
"Who's that girl with you? is she your friend?"
and my sister cleared that up too and said it was me and they all just looked at me and couldn't believe it and kept saying no way, because it didn't look anything like me. Basically nobody recognized me and they said I looked great and lost a lot of weight. Last time they saw me was when I was 210 lbs.
Suddenly I realized why they looked at me that way! but when they knew it was me, they smiled these big smiles and realized the familiarity in my eyes.

I just really loved this feeling. Made me realize how far I've come. I was completely anonymous! :) lol I think I actually feel proud of myself. And that's something I've always wanted to feel.

Wow, that seems like it was a really powerful experience. That was just the motivation I needed before taking a walk :)

Congrats! I know that is a great feeling! Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago at a funeral, actually, and I felt somewhat guilty about how happy I felt afterward. :dizzy:

I dont know about you, but I kind of want to stay away from some of my childhood friends just for this reason. lol is that bad? My good friend as always been the skinny one and for once I just want her to be in complete shock when she sees me.

Teehee. Reminds me of when I met an old school teacher. I went up and said hi, and she looked as people do when they're talking politely to someone while trying to figure out who they are. After a while she showed a spark of recognition and said, "Oh, you're tkm256's little sister!"

Seriously! I've lost about 30lbs since any of my best friends had seen me since last year, and when we all hung out last weekend they were all in shock and couldn't get over how great I looked (and the majority of them are guys). One kept on commenting how even my skin and hair looked amazing, another on other things, etc etc.

It was immensely gratifying. ;) And most definitely inspiring!

I'm returning home soon after being abroad a year and I've lost about 25 lbs... unfortunately, I had gained those 25 lbs about a year before I left so I don't think coming home the same weight I was 1.5-2 years ago is going to be so shocking, especially since I still have about 35-40 lbs to go.
