Holy Water Retention!?

On Sunday morning I weighed in at 195... right on track.

I worked all day out in the sun on Sunday at the airshow. I drank a ton of water but we didn't plan ahead and didn't really have any food. I ate some Doritos but not an excessive amount. I had a turkey sausage and grilled zuchinni for dinner. Overall the calories for the day were pretty low in spite of the chips. I know there is a lot of sodium in them.. but seriously!

Monday Morning 202, This morning 200.2. Seriously??? How long will this take to come off? I know I did not gain 7 lbs from a handful of chips! I figured eating something even if all that was available was crap was better than starving all together. :dizzy:

Oh hunny, i'm sorry. :( Get used to it. One of the side effects of maintaining a low sodium diet is that your weight will bounce around like crazy. I routinely put on and shed 5 or 6 pounds overnight and throughout the day. Everytime I step on the scale I weigh something different, so I only use it as a general guide and go by my measurements. You might want to follow suit, lest you drive yourself to the loony bin stressing out over it. :)

I don't understand. If your figures are correct you lost 1.8 pounds.
Today 200.2 yesterday 202 .

my scale jumped this weekend as well by 2 days it went up 7 pounds..I Too was out in the sun working and i was having a cook out. I honestly did not eat bad i did have one bad thing and that was a burger. other then that i thought all was ok. maybe it has something to do with being out all weekend in the sun and so on?? I was very upset as well with my weight gain from fri-sunday.. Did anyone else go through this over the weekend??

It is totally frusturating...

Bodies don't make sense sometimes, don't get upset! For example, I've had a mild case of food poisoning for the last two days. I won't get into the gory details, but I couldn't hold anything down all yesterday. Out of curiousity I weighted myself this morning, wondering how much water weight I'd lost sinse my body was EMPTY. I weighed EXACTLY what I did right before I got sick. Whatever!! Does not make sense.

I feel for you Val, I was down to 166 earlier last week and went up to 171 at the end of last week. I've been eating just OK, had a couple slip ups (like for instance when I ate a whole Chipotle Chicken Burrito only to horrifyingly find out that that darn thing had 1100 calories!!!) but nothing majorly bad. I'm at 168 now but gosh darn it, it sucked! I'm going to do a couple 2-a-days and shock my body out of this dumb slump! Hang in there, we're right there with ya ;)

I enjoy the title of this thread. Especially since "Holy Costume Party!" is one of my favorite random expressions.

But yeah, I have a feeling I'm going to see an increase from water retention today. I want to hurt someone today, so I know PMS is here.

I'd say the chips could have had something to do with your sudden gain, but there are other factors, like what time of the month it is for you. I know that whenever my period is near I retain water like crazy. But also, remember that the scale jumps around for everyone. One time I went up 3 lbs in a day, I was depressed for the rest of the week, but thats just a normal fluctuation. Try not to let it drive you crazy!

I know the scale jumps around and has done so for me on lots of occasions... What concerns me is the gain without a big loss right afterwards (which is what has happened in the past). AF was last week so I don't think that's the culprit. Darn human bodies!

Star2Be 05-27-2009 02:50 AM

Ha, funny you should bring this up today! This morning I was up 2.4 lbs from yesterday's weight, and all because of that darn sodium-laden chili I ate yesterday... (Seriously, I'm attributing that gain entirely to water retention, because I know that everything I ate yesterday was healthy/well within my usual calorie range!). Similarly, a couple weeks ago I had three days where I bounced from 160.6 lbs --> 162.2 lbs --> 160.2 lbs! Yep, water retention is just THE most frustrating thing, isn't it? It'll never be a friend of mine! :snooty: Hehe.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I was about to lose it!

I'm happy to report that after drinking massive amounts of green tea at work last night (I was thirsty as all get out for some reason) I'm weighing back in at 197 this morning. That was plain crazy!
