At Highest Weight... Gonna lose it this Summer!!!

  • So... I just stepped on the scale and to my dismay, I'm at my highest weight since....... I can't remember actually. I came into college at 155 pounds on my 5 ft 7ish frame. Because of my height I don't even think I'm in the overweight category, but I certainly don't need or want all this extra padding. Anyway, today I weigh 157.8 and I'm ready to do something about it. Despite a brief loss of about 10 pounds that went up and down throughout my first 2 years at college, I'm back here heavier than ever!

Good news is, I'm starting immediately and will not wait one more day to begin shedding this weight (even though today is my "birthday dinner" at the CHEESECAKE FACTORY......... none of that for me. I'll take the grilled chicken thank you). I've already started Pilates and Zumba classes - now I just have to put the ice cream away completely and get myself to the gym every day. My goal is to weigh 130 by August 1st. Maybe 132 since I'm starting this a tad later than I should have this summer. I am sooooooooooo pumped!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wanted to introduce myself and I figure I'll update this thread every couple weeks or so.

Here's to a summer of reaching our goals for ALL of us!!!!! WE CAN AND WE WILL DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • HI Kimmie,

Welcome to the site and congrats for wanting to improve yourself.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey...
  • welcome! and happy birthday!
  • welcome! I would love to be 130lbs by August 1st too. Ten weeks! We can do it.
  • I'm new (although have been lurking for a while ) and am using this summer to jumpstart my healthy lifestyle. It's great because although I work during the day, I don't have a lot of other commitments (like homework) to worry about...so I can go straight to the gym at 5 to exercise! The only thing I am slightly worried about is finding the time to work out every day once school starts in September (I'll be going back to college as well) but it's a little early to think about that...I'll just focus on taking things one step at a time for now
  • Count me in too. I doubt I'll make 130 by August but intend to be at least 20lbs (160) lighter by then. Summer is a great motivator!
  • Uhhhh so I reluctantly am crawling back in here to admit that I did eat some cheesecake on the night of the dinner.... and I certainly didn't choose the grilled chicken for the main course..... ah well. I have GOOD NEWS! I just signed up for TWO MONTHS OF FITNESS CLASSES!!!!!

There's a high school about 2 minutes away from my house that is offering summer fitness classes, and I registered today for one that will start June 8th. It will be 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) for an hour and 30 minutes! Best of all was the price..... It came out to around 4 bucks a class, which is VERY cheap around these parts. The class will consist of weight training, flexibility and cardio and will be taking place in the schools weight room AND on the track field. I am so pumped to get started. In the meantime I've got 2 more weeks of Aerobics, Pilates, and Zumba classes.
  • Good for you for deciding to improve yourself while you're still below that "obese" line, I only wish we all could have had the same foresight.
  • Well I'm glad that I am technically within the "normal weight" range according to my BMI. However my BMI is 24.6, so I am at the "higher" range of normal. If I gain 3 more pounds, I will be technically OVERWEIGHT which I have not been for a very long time........ so I absolutely CANNOT let that happen. Actually, this is a bit of a wake up call for me since I had no idea I was this close to being considered overweight. Surely I would be soon if I had continued my lifestyle for much longer....

By the way, you look fabulous Kelly. You have truly transformed!
