How long does it take?

I hope you all don't mind me asking but trying to watch everyones tickers is mind boggling. How long has it taken you to reach your goal or current weight vs. how long you planned on? I thought this might be a good idea for a thread.

I'd like to loose 50 more lbs.
SW: 198
CW: 179 took all of last summer to get here doing nothing but walking
GW: 130ish? Would love to be here by summer (as in June-ish)

ETA: BTW I know this is totally not a realistic or healthy goal. I just wish I could have found you ladies sooner so I could be there by summer.

I started just wanting to lose weight .. i didn't even set a goal or even think about how long it would take me .. i just wanted to get healthy and im still doing it .

It's took me 8 months to loose 50 lbs, I'm no where near goal and still much heavier than you. I'm not sure how long it will take to get close to an actual goal weight. Each person is different.

The average healthy weight loss to keep it off is 2lbs a week. Between now and the end of June @ 2lbs a week it would be 26lbs. You would probably have to bump up the exercise.

I've lost 27 pounds in 11 weeks (including being ill a lot and therefore off plan)

MindiV 03-27-2009 02:30 PM

I lost 80 pounds in a little bit over a year...I intended to lose only 60 but 20 more just came off. Too bad it wasn't that easy the WHOLE time...

Starting Weight - 220 (Oct 4, 2007)
Current Weight - 155.2 (Mar 23, 2009)
Goal Weight - 136

My original goal was to get to 145 by my birthday last year (Nov 7) obviously I didn't make that, plus I've changed my goal weight. Now I'm trying to reach 136 by Father's Day.

My highest weight was 229 and that just before delivering baby 2.

SW: 215
CW: 136
GW: 130?

I started in late May/early June 08. I have lowered my goal as I have gone down the path. It hasn't been a race. I enjoy what I am doing and most importantly, how I am doing it.

LittleMoonRabbit 03-27-2009 03:13 PM

I started at the beginning of january and have lost a little over 15 lbs. I would love to lose another 15 by the end of june, but I don't know if that's going to happen.

The weight loss seems to have slowed down for me... but I am still chugging along. Eating healthy foods, staying in my calorie budget, getting in some exercise. I plan on living like this, so I guess it will just happen when it happens... though like everyone else, I would love for it to come off sooner rather than later, lol.

CakeBatter 03-27-2009 03:28 PM

I started August 28 at 215.8
It has taken me seven months to get to 186.4
Hopefully it won't take me another seven to get to 165 - 160

*crosses fingers*

A few weeks ago I was wondering this same thing as well. I think it greatly depends on how much you want to lose and how dedicated you are to staying with whatever program you decide to follow. That will greatly affect how long it will take for you to reach your goal weight. Good luck!

WormwoodDoll 03-27-2009 07:25 PM

I started September 18th, 2008. I was actually down to 219 in the beginning of December...but the holidays and the stress of my job got to me and I was back at 226 in the beginning of February 2009.

I am currently around 208 (have TOM at the moment). So I've lost about 18lbs since then.

I am hoping to be at 180 by the end of the summer (August) and 140-150 at the end of 2009. That's my goal.

I agree. I realized in February that if I would of kept up with things, I could of been under 200 by now. That's if I stayed OP, exercised, and did things the right way even with a few minor slip ups.

It has taken me 8 weeks to lose 7 lb.
