ok ladies, i think i need to join your thread!

I hit a new low saturday (154.8), but was up to 157 this morning...not good! i'm sure it's because we did a killer hike in the mountains yesterday, about 15km total trip, and it felt like the climb was practically vertical! along with my very blistered feet and numerous no-see-um bites, i have EXTREMELY sore glutes, hamstrings and calves...i am betting it is muscle water retention, as i was pulling off 155-156 quite consistently last week...

Well I blew it this weekend. Up to 192.4 this morning! What was I thinking. Hopefully its a lot of water weight and it will come off quick. Really disappointed in myself

WormwoodDoll--I too indulged too much on the fourth, and couldn't really shake the habit, and am now disgusted with self. But oh well, today is a new day. What I wanted to tell you was--I read about how you've heard cardio is the only way to get rid of that stomach flab. Now, I know the "there's no such thing as spot training" stigma that we all learn, but let me tell you, I started adding ab planks to my 20 minutes of walking, adding three 2 minute sprints into the walking, and only lost a couple of pounds but in a week or so people all over were commenting on how much trimmer my waist looks. Same thing happened for my dad when he started doing them.
http://gohealthygofit.com/a-great-ab...for-the-house/
There's a tutorial if you're fuzzy on the idea of ab planks/how to do them. I can only speak for my own personal experience, but I wasn't doing much cardio at all and still got huge results in my midsection doing these, in a pretty short period of time. (the cardio i might only do twice a week, i hate cardio, but I did my planks every day. Starting out I just try to hold each side 20 seconds and do them twice or three times. real quick and easy.)

As for gain/loss on my part, i don't want to talk about it yet. Well, I don't know yet. I've been in the dust on the side of the road for about a week now, and I'm just now straggling up to try and hitch a ride on a wagon. I haven't weighed myself since we got back from Kentucky (for the 4th) and I'm dreading tomorrow, when I'm making myself step on the scale.

munchievictim - Thanks! I'll definitely have to try these. Just do a few sets every morning!

As for me...195.9 this morning. I am SO miserable, you have no idea. That's more than what I was after the 4th! What gives? I am eating around 1300-1500 AND exercising every day.

Wormwood:
Don't stress!!! Is your TOM coming up? Have you been label-checking for insane amounts of sodium? Sometimes the sodium sneaks up on ya! Keep at it, the weight WILL come off. Sorry you're feeling down. But there's no need because the scale WILL be moving in the opposite direction!!
Have you tried zig-zagging your calorie-intake? Have 1,600 calories one day, and 1,200 the next? Might kick the metabolism into gear!

Congrats to all the losses! I went through and did personals for everyone on this page, then accidentally hit the refresh button, and lost them all. Man oh man. So, congrats to losses.... don't stress about the gains, just keep working at it!!!

I'm 150.8 this morning. It could be worse considering I'm on my TOM. I've been being pretty damn good with my calorie intake, so hopefully once TOM goes away, I'll be outta the 150s!!!

I'm the same...have been for 3 weeks! After I stopped with my trainer I stopped working out for a month as a break. Restarted, doing a lot of cardio classes to get my endurance up and do 2 hours a day. Morning/Evening, one yoga or aqua challenge type class and one step/zumba type to get variety. After 3 weeks of this, no diet change I haven't seen any change! My jeans seemed to be fitting better but I checked the tape and I haven't even lost inches...*sigh* maybe next week...

Jelbb - TOM is usually at the end of the month. Hmpf. I just don't know. I did eat some spanish rice last night so that could be it. I'm just not sure. I already calorie shift and all that good stuff. I have been looking a new recipes to change up my diet. I've also been exercising every day, so maybe some water retention. But I think I am going to take a break from the scale. Focus on a new meal plan, getting daily exercise, etc. Or go back to weighing just ONCE a week. I use to be able to handle the daily weigh ins, even if there wasn't a loss. But I knew the reason why I didn't lose: I didn't eat on plan or I was bad and had lots of sodium. But this time there's no real explanation that I know off. It was so depressing this morning. I almost ate a whole pint of ice cream (but I didn't). DF and I are going out to the Melting Pot for our anniversary tonight then going to see Back To The Future outside on the river. We're walking and it's 4 miles, so I don't feel so guilty. But I think I am definitely going to take a break away from the scale. I absolutely don't want to start emotionally eating again.
