odd question????
i have a ? 4 you guys. my mom is 2 sizes smaller (pants size) and i want to be at that size on my bday which is may 7. n are bones are big and she is 7 inches taller than me. i asked her how much she had weighed so i can fig out how much i need to lose to drop the 2 pant sizes and im 60lbs heavier??!!? so basically i would have to lose 30lbs to drop a size, does that seem right to u guys i can see like 20lbs a size at most but 30???? n the scale seems to be fine with every1 elses weight but do u think that it could be wrong 4 me? i dont have any weights, i have to go buy some later on. but its just odd to have to lose 30lbs to drop a size.

I honestly think that is different for everyone and depends on the brand and if it's jeans or dresses or whatever. I found a pair of pants the other day, size 30, Level 99 jeans, that I wore after I had hit 160 pounds. Now I am 145 pounds wearing a size 28 in the same brand -- just bought a pair a couple days ago. I was surprised when I saw that I was wearing a 30. I thought for sure it was a 31 or 32. I don't know if that helps, but I sort of was thinking about it and thought I would post your thread.

like if i was to go in her closet to put those jeans on i would have lose 60lbs. lol

Hah . . . I just posted about this.
When I started I wore a very tight 22 and now I wear a very tight 18. I think it is a 15-20lbs loss to lose 2 pant sizes. Your mom is shorter than you so you can't judge what size you will be based on her weight. |
i think it's very variable depending upon the clothes and the person and where and how they lose the weight.
i have lost just over 25 lbs. my clothes fit better. and i've been able to add one or two things htat had previously been prohibitively small. but all in all, i'm still wearing the same clothing i was wearing 6 months ago. i hope to change soon though. |
You can't really compare your weight vs size to her weight vs size. Because the height issue, and are you two the same body shape? All of this makes a difference. What I'd do is measure! See how many inches you need to lose, and compare it against what size you are wearing now.
I went shopping with a friend the other day, she's 5'5"ish, and I'm 5'8", she weighs 240, and I weigh 259, I wear a size 14-16 on top and she's a 22-24. Comparing numbers I would have thought she'd either weigh more than me, or wear a smaller size.. so it's really not helpful to compare. -Aimee |
Have you heard about comparing apples to oranges?
I agree with swimgirl. My sister wears a size 20 and a size 10 pair of underwear. She weighs about 190 lbs. She is 5'4".
I am 5'6.5" and I currently wear a size 26 and a size 10 pair of underwear. You can see below what I weigh. It is almost 70 lbs more than my sister. The reason why I mention the underwear is because I was telling my sister the other day that I felt a little embarassed getting size 10s when I am out buying new ones. She said to me " Boy, you must have a small butt, then!" I have been active in the past so my muscles are probably more toned than my sister. Smaller? I don't know. I didn't ask her what brand of underwear she buys. Different manufacturers cut their clothing differently. That is why most of my clothes are in size 26 but I have even a few 22-24s that I can wear--like the Elizabeth label by Liz Claiborne. Did I also mention I wear a size 46DD bra? My sister wears a size 42C. The point that I am making is that all of us carry our weight in different areas of our body. I have a classic hourglass figure. My waist is exactly ten inches less than my hips. Sometimes, it takes me 30 lbs to drop one size also. It bothers me too when I hear of people dropping sizes quickly but if that is the way my body is, then that is the way my body is. I would work more on self-acceptance and just be glad you are going down and not up. In your photo you look like you might have an hourglass figure as well. I would keep working out and keep up your good work. When you get done, you will have the kind of figure guys love. Womanly not waif like. Good luck! |
It really is going to depend on where you carry your weight and the height difference.
|
Honestly, I don't think there is any point whatsoever in trying to guess how many pounds you have to lose to be the same size as someone who is SEVEN inches taller than you. You guys couldn't possibly be any more different. And your pants size will depend on where you lose the weight, and that could be anywhere. Sometimes it's all up top, sometimes all in the lower body.
|
you said your mum is 7 inches TALLER than you so she's going to wear clothes differently to you. she might weigh more and wear the same size as you at some point.
or put it this way, if yo're 5ft and weigh 190lb and she's 6ft 7 and weighs 190lb she'll wear a smaller size than the smaller person. |
Also, I have an hourglass figure and my hips are the last thing to go. At my lowest I was wearing normal tops and plus size bottoms. No, I don't think you can properly lose 30-60 pounds by May. Also, for me, it took 20-40 pounds for me to change pant sizes last year.

im still a big girl i want to lose bout 25-30 4 my bday

I don't think you can compare sizes b/c of the height difference. My mom and I are 2" different in height, about 20lbs different in weight, and 4 sizes different in pants. It's just really variable by person.
