Weight Fluctuations

  • I am getting so annoyed!!! I know it is normal for your weight to fluctuate during the day but sometimes mine fluctuates by as much as eight pounds in a day! Also, its not like in the morning I weigh less and then at night I am higher, sometimes it is the opposite. I am ALL over the place!! We just bought a brand new $80 digital scale and it weighs my fiancee the same consistently. I just dont get it. Anyone else go through this or have any ideas what might be causing it/ suggestions on how to make it stop?
  • I am right there with you. Almost exactly. I have no idea. It is just normal body stuff. Bodies can be so weird.
  • I was told (WW Leader) that we eat about 5-8 pounds of food a day. So that definitely matters. Most people eat about the same amount each day (weight wise/amt of lbs). Because your weight does flucutate so much maybe you just pick a particular time that you weigh. It would be more accurate than all times of the day. So many things come into account that affect your daily weight, salt intake, no poo, more water, less water and so on. I only weigh once a week at WW. I can't weigh at home because the scale differs. Try to stick to the same time and day each week for a while. It may help.
  • dont drive yourself nuts! its normal to fluctuate throughout the day. you -- and your mental health lol -- are better off weighing yourself at the same time every day, if you want to weigh every day. i weigh myself once a week at the same time, morning before i get in the shower.
  • I agree with the above two posts... my $80 scale --the wii fit, yelled at me the other night because i weighed myself in the evening instead of the morning like i usually do...and it said i gained weight as well. :P But Ive read in many places you can drive yourself nuts if you try to weigh yourself every day.

My advice: Make sure your getting enough fiber to do you deed at least twice a day---and on top of that, make sure your drinking plenty of water. I have a 32ounce bottle i take everywehre with me, and fill it twice a day at least---I noticed my weight fluctuated less when i was running on 'regular'
  • I can usually tell when my weight will go up. Yesterday I know I had a little too much sodium and probably not enough water so I was up 2lbs this morning after I had been losing about a pound a day. This happened a little while ago too. My weightgain stays the same for 2-3 days and then I drop the pounds off for about 4-5 days and the cycle starts all over again. I think that it is usually triggered by something though.
  • Thanks for the advice ladies. I get plenty of fiber and drink water all day long that is why I just don't get it but I have decided I need to just hide the scale and use it sparingly I will just go by my weekly weigh in at Weight Watchers. Thanks again ladies!!
