I know they are used for quick weight loss. When I used to box I used for weigh-ins. But I was wondering if it burns more calories during regular workouts. In boxing I would only use it for a particular work out to lose water weight. Any view on this?

I doubt very much it would burn more calories - it'd just make you get dehydrated faster, and lose water weight.

The only reason it'd make you burn more calories is if it added a lot of weight for you to have to lug around during your workout - and there's safer ways of doing that for increased calorie burn - like weight vests.

Really, I think it is a fad. At best, it will be completely useless, and at worst - it will rapidly leave you in a dangerous state of dehydration.

No, it does not burn more calories, just burns water (which in turn makes a stunning comeback when you rehydrate yourself).

Yup, like the others have said. It's just excess sweat.
