I just joined this forum in the hope that it will help me stick to my diet. I tend to start one and then revert to eating normally in a few days. I am currently 133 lbs, 5'8 1/2" tall, and I eat mostly healthily, though I have been consuming more junk recently and often overeat. I have not been exercising, either, so my weight went from 117 lbs this summer to 133. It is rather difficult for me to lose the weight, for I have to subsist on very little food to lose and continue to maintain my lower weight. I used to have the willpower to simply eat much less, but I am not sure that I am willing to go on a starvation diet just to be skinny anymore.
I am starting again, however, a healthier approach to my diet. I decided to start exercising every day, stop overeating (and keep a food journal), and perhaps try diet pills to jump start my weight loss. I read about the Alli pill recently, and while I am wary of the repulsive side effects, I am going to try it.
I plan to run at least 3 miles a day starting today. I am also going to buy the pills today and start taking them tomorrow...and will post about my progress.
Thank you for reading!

Have you calculated what your BMI would be with your height at 110 it would be I'm guessing between 16-17. 18.5 is the absolute lowest you can go health wise.

To be perfectly honest, I think your body is trying very hard to tell you something. That is such a low weight for your height. It's true some people naturally are rather thin, but when you have to live your whole life on very little food, that's not natural.
I'm sorry, but add me to the group that thinks your goal weight is much too low. My mom was 5'7" and 110 pounds. She looked like a bag of bones and could never find clothes to fit-- everything was too big. She was one of those rare people who ate whatever she wanted and didn't gain weight. You are taller than that. I can't imagine what you would look like at 110.
I am 125 and three plus inches shorter than you and I sometimes have trouble finding clothes small enough now.
Thanks for your responses. What choirgirl said was quite true for me, that is, I don't eat as healthily as I should, and I don't exercise. Healthy foods should become my normal diet. When I was not eating junk food and exercising regularly, my weight was around 117-120 lbs, which I was pretty happy with. I don't want to starve myself, so I am hoping that by watching what I eat carefully, putting only the best things into my body, and exercising everyday, that I will achieve the weight that is healthy for my body. At the moment, I am carrying extra weight around.
I do think that some of you are right in saying that 110 is a bit too low. I will be happy to be a bit more than that.
Perhaps it's your shape, not your weight, that you are unhappy with. Adding some heavy weights into your workout routine might do wonders. A muscular 133 lb. body looks much different than a flabby 133 lb. body.

Alli is intended for people who are actually overweight, which you are not, so make sure you read the instructions very carefully. I'm going to echo the thoughts of the previous posters that I would focus on toning up and fitness rather than losing pounds. I also think you might benefit from something like pilates as it sounds like you want to be long and lean (at 5'8.5).
And I also agree with JulieJ08 that your body might be trying to tell you something with not quickly dropping weight.
I didn't know that Alli was meant only for people who were really overweight. I will be careful if I do use it. Pilates has always appealed to me, but I don't want to attend classes. Can one do pilates at home and without equipment, I wonder? I will look into it, thank you
When I eat whatever I want, and as much as I want and do not exercise, my weight naturally goes to around 130. It is hard for me to diet because I like eating too much, but I do feel much happier and more energetic when I am limiting my diet to healthy, fresh food. It is difficult to break diet habits, of course, which is why I have not lost the weight that I gained. I hope that with a few much needed changes in my diet and exercise, I will rather easily maintain a thinner physique.
try to tone up your body. I used to want to 110 lbs like u (and i'm 5'7) becuz i used to weight like that (and yes, living with a very small amount of food).
But after toning up my body, i look skinnier than i ever, skinnier than when i was 110 lbs (altho now i'm 126). So yah, u don't have to limit yourself from food. Just eat enough, make good choice and exercise.
The best toning @ home I have found is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. You can tone @ home and look awesome at any weight. I am overweight and when I do the 30DS I see results in inches lost and I look much better even at the same weight. LOTS of women have seen those results too!! Good luck, but I agree you may not be looking at losing weight in a healthy manner- it is a great idea to talk to a doctor before beginning a weight loss routine just to make sure you are going about it healthily!
Sometimes it's all about getting healthy, and toned... not losing weight.
PS I am 5'5" and at your current weight I am a bombshell, seriously (well as bombshell as I can be, haha, my husband sure likes it!). That is like, the ideal weight for someone my height. You are a bit taller- I'd bet you look freaking awesome at your current weight! Just tone up and you will feel just as awesome as you look in no time. That 30DS is awesome.
My advice to you, and I really hope you will think about this seriously and not just brush it off, is to take a good look at your eating habits.
There is a really good chance that the weight you are at right now, is your set point weight or mabey just a bit above it. This is the natural weight your body will strive to keep when you are eating a balanced diet and doing little or no exercise. I know that this may be hard to hear (trust me I've been there, and I know it feels like everyone else is crazy and can't see what you can because you're absolutely convinced that you can't possibly be MEANT to look like this!) but it's very important that you think on this a minute, or mabey even talk to your doctor about it.
The very best thing you can do right now is not try to diet or restrict calories in a traditional sense. Start thinking healthy, not thin and eventually the thin part will come. You should focus on a healthy diet and exercise, and exercise, and exercise. Consider yourself lucky, all you really need to do is tone up, perhaps a lot, but you don't have a huge amount of pounds to lose.
Running is your best bet, learn to love running, and I bet in a year or two you would weigh nearly the same as you do now but not even recognize yourself. You just need to turn that extra fat into extra lean muscle.
sorry this is so long, but I hope it helps you gain a little perspective...its not all just about starving yourself ( I learned that the hard way and still ended up gaining all the weight back) Good Luck!
