December NSV

With the rise in popularity of the “things that make you feel good” thread I thought I would start an old thread we use to have … NSV

What is this thread about? An NSV is the shorthand for Non Scale Victory. These are the little things that happen in your every day life that make you feel good but are not reflected on the scale. Things like you a new jean size or a complement some one pays you.

So what is your December NSV?

stellart 12-01-2008 01:31 AM

i realized today that my jeans come off without unbuttoning or unzipping them

Love it when that happens!

My NSV for december, well I was at a casino with my aunt, and i was at a machine that was next to the bill breaker, one guy put a hundred in and started to walk away when i noticed that he left a 20 behind, so i called him back and gave it to him, i hope that it made him feel good to know that there are still honest good people in this world

Today I wore black leggins for the first time since I was a child. I feel confident. I was a little nervous at first but I know that I'm rockin them!

Elwing 12-01-2008 11:21 AM

I got compliments on my body yesterday. Lots. Sadly they are not fit to repeat here. But they made me feel good :)

kelli32 12-01-2008 11:29 AM

My older brother said that he noticed I lost weight and even said something nice about it. Shocking.

I spent close to an hour trying to find something to wear this morning. Most of my wardrobe is too loose.

Darn, eh? ;)

carcar05 12-02-2008 07:51 PM

Well, this is a non-scale, non-weight-related victory... after 3 years, and 3 different sets of crappy used washers & dryers, my husband and I FINALLY broke down and bought a brand new set at Sears, it was a set that was on sale as a door buster for Black Friday, so we got the dryer for free and a discount on the washer, it was a GREAT deal. They were delivered today and now I FINALLY have a brand new appliance in our house, that works and that neither of us had to install- it came with delivery and installation.

I don't know why, but I feel much more hopeful for our future with a nice washer and dryer- isnt' that silly? All the sudden all these big problems I thought we had don't seem as big anymore, just because I don't have the stress of "will I be able to wash our laundry this week, or do I have to haul everything to the laundromat again?" It just feels like a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. Silly, I know. :)

jahjah1223 12-02-2008 07:55 PM

ahhh carcar i have the same problem , my second washer this year broke down a month ago and im getting sick or the laundry mat.. especially with 3 kids

carcar05 12-02-2008 07:59 PM

Jah Jah - yikes! It's hard enough for me with just 1 kid! Maybe you can find a good deal on something on craigslist.com! Good luck, such a bummer. I can definitely say my life is better with a working washer & dryer, everything goes better haha!

I walked to work instead of taking the second bus

RememberHowToSmile 12-02-2008 11:49 PM

I wore my size 12 skinny jeans (they only fit me when my weight is below 170)

RememberHowToSmile 12-05-2008 04:22 PM

I went shopping yesterday and bought a bunch of stuff at kohls because I had gift cards from after thanksgiving shopping that had a bunch of discount stuff. I got a bunch of clothing that I though wouldn't fit me at all until I had surgery and when I got it home and tried it on ... it all fit. I know it will look better once everything is smoothed out but still suprised it fit.

I wore my size 16 jeans comfortably today!!!!

Digging Deep 12-05-2008 06:47 PM

Today, I moved in my belt in an inch!!

PrincessHoagie 12-05-2008 07:56 PM

I had an interview today and I wore a suit dress that doesn't hide my belly bulge at all because it is one piece and it is light gray. I was nervous about wearing it, but both at my current job and at my interview I was complemented on how great I looked and that my outfit was cute! Success!!!!!!

wantingtolose 12-12-2008 06:06 PM

thought i'd revive this thread with my NSV!
Today was the first time i've tried on my wedding dress since my wedding (feb 06), since then i had an ectopic, had a baby, gained 40lbs, lost 40lbs, so i wondered if it fit. I am the exact weight i was on our wedding day, but since having kids its not all in the same place, BUt, it fit!:carrot: Not that i'll ever wear it again, but just knowing it fits feels good.

Yesterday, I went shopping with my brother, his girlfriend, and one of her friends. I was trying on some of they coats at Wal-mart. They have a nice black peacoat with pink lining. I tried the large and it fit! :) I also wanted to try the white coats, which I could never own because it wouldn't last a week with my two boys, but they only had them in small and medium. I really liked the coat and figured, why not. It's not like I was really going to buy it anyway, might as well try it on... I actually wasn't even expecting to get it on my arms so easily, but I did! I wasn't able to button it, it needed about an inch more to fit around my lower belly/hips. I was just happy to be able to even get it on! ;)

Chele615 12-13-2008 12:30 PM

aangel....how much were the peacoats at Walmart? I need a new winter coat badly because I have lost 40 pounds and a couple of sizes since last winter, but I don't want to shell out a lot of money for a nice winter coat.

My NSV for the week was that I was standing in one of the house offices waiting to talk to the freshman assistant principal about setting up a meeting for one of my students. While waiting, I was talking with the secretary, who is one of the sweetest, grandmother-type women anyone could ever meet. We were talking about different things and out of nowhere, she just blurted out, "You're losing weight....you look wonderful!" Haha, I just wanted to hug her right there ;)

garstar 12-13-2008 12:48 PM

I love peacoats!

My NSV - It's REALLY cold right now, especially last night. Driving home from work I saw a man on the side of the road (middle of no where) pushing his truck!!! So I turned around and asked if he needed any help. Turned out he was a cute man :) He said help was on it's way, but I felt good that I didn't just leave him like the other cars that were passing by.

hiimnatalie 12-13-2008 01:43 PM

garstar, you rock! I love hearing good samaritan stories like that , totally makes me smile!

shrinkinglizzy 12-13-2008 02:29 PM

my nsv -- just feeling good being at goal. hoping to stay here despite being mired in the muck of the end of the semester (read: last night's dinner was chex mix and cookies).

i'll be heading home soon and would really like to look as good then as i do now. And an extra 3 lbs makes a difference! Gotta remember that...

RememberHowToSmile 12-13-2008 05:23 PM

Today I was able to take my size 14 pants off without unbuttoning them. I've also been wearing my skinny jeans on a more regular basis. Also one more thing I thought my weight was up to 173 but it must have been because of TOM because today I was back down to 169.

Between $35-$50. I love peacoats. I had one when I was in high school up until last year and I just haven't been able to get a new coat until now. I haven't gotten it yet, but it is on my Christmas list! ;)

Chance0421 12-15-2008 08:34 PM

I have 2!

1. Last week, I dared myself to try on a pair of size 12 jeans & they fit!!!!

2. My mom bought me a peacoat for Christmas. I tried on the 12/14 knowing it would fit, but parts of it were too big. So, I tried the 8/10 on & it fit too!!!
