Thanksgiving

So what is everyone eating? are u guys staying healthy or eating the bad stuff :) lol I haven't decided on what i am eating yet :)

DRose 11-24-2008 01:38 AM

I'm going all in, I am going to do my end of the month weigh in Thursday morning, and just have fun the rest of the day. Of course I don't want to go crazy, but I'm not planning on passing on any gravy, mashed potatoes, rolls, or pumpkin pie! Yum Yum

I'm just going to let go for the day. I've searched the internet for new recipes and found 3 from the Food Network site (2 of which are Paula Dean's recipes...lol!)

I really can't wait.... :)

If we celebrated thanksgiving here, I'd try to stay OP as much as possible but give myself more freedom than usual. Luckily, a lot of the time, healthy options are available - and if you control portions, you could probably stay away from going massively over your calories.

I'm not going to pass on anything, but I'm going to work out and try to watch portion sizes. That said, pumpkin pie....HERE I COME!!!!

Layla316 11-24-2008 08:06 AM

I'm going to try to control my portion sizes, but i will not give anything up if I want it :p I am really looking forward to scalloped pineapple! Yummy sugary goodness!

I'm going to give myself a set amount of leeway. Instead of my usual 1500 calories, I'm going to allow myself 2000. But I'm going to be very strict about doing my exercises.

I'm cooking so I get to have a happy medium. I'm making the classics because that is what my siblings want but with modifcations, low fat milk, fat free soups, ect.

I'm sure my calories will be high but I'm not going hog wild. The key in my mind is to sample everything and stop when I'm full.

Im going to try and not go too overboard. However my boyfriends mom is making stuffing inside of the turkey and I have never had it made that way. We always made it separate in the oven. I know I am going to love whatever she makes, she is gonna make me fat again.

caligirl98 11-24-2008 10:14 AM

I'm working out double time and eating very well so that I don't have to feel guilty. There is only one holiday like this, so I want to enjoy it. I'm eating whatever I want on Thursday as long as I work out in the morning and before I eat the big dinner and come Friday morning, I'm back on plan. All leftovers are going in the freezer.

jahjah1223 11-24-2008 11:29 AM

My family is having it on Friday , And im trying to stay OP not too much though , but yeah im going to watch what i eat that day .

I am making a green salad to take and I am going to try and fill my plate with salad and good veggies and eat a small serving of dressing, turkey, and desserts. I am not going to skip anything because I know that will just make me crave it like crazy!!!

I have it bad this Thanksgiving. I am going to my families on Weds, DH's families on Thurs then a family friends on Fri. OMG can we say temptation lol. I have to let myself eat my Mom's cooking. It is my FAVORITE and I look forward to it all year. As for the others enough to be polite but not really going to allow myself to go off plan ya know. Its a little easier for me since my husband is on a fat free diet due to his cholesterol. I try to follow it with him so he doesn't feel like he is having to sacrifice all by his lonesome...

I'm roasting a rosemary infused honey orange basted turkey, its my specialty. I'm also making mashed potatos, which I was opposed to having but they guys insisted we'd ruin thanksgiving if we skipped them. So I'm making them with chicken broth and plain lowfat yogurt, roasted garlic, chives, basil and parsley...to add flavor without fat...also making cranberry sauce out of cranberries I picked this fall. And octopus halibut ceviche. And maybe some rolls, but now that I think about it maybe not...

brittanykathleen 11-24-2008 01:37 PM

Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday of the whole year, i dont plan on skipping out of anything since everyone in my family (we do a 3 family get together and everyone brings something) cooks amazing things. I will watch how much i eat and stop when i am full.

I agree with you clewles81, if i skip it i will just want it. My faves are the stuffing (has to be out of the turkey) and cranberry sauce. I cant wait. I also will be having 2 thanksgivings, one with my whole family and one with my parents and brother. So I will have to pick and choose what i want :)
