  • Does anybody else have to literally turn their food into poison to not overeat? I just had lunch and then my mom brought me a plate of food (bless her heart). But, its all fatty not diet friendly crap so as soon as she left I put it in the trash can and poured disinfectant on it to ruin it so I won't even be tempted to take it out of the trash and eat it (which I have done before *shame*).
  • one day I put candy bars in the garbage disposal
    grind grind grind
  • I ALWAYS do the same even if i didn't trash the food id give it away . If its out of sight its out of craving i say :P
  • I have definitely done similar things... Water is cheaper than disinfectant If there is a baked good sitting around tempting me and DH has had all he wants, I pour water on it and toss it.
  • You girls are so smart. I never would have thought of any of this! Thats an awesome way to deal with cravings!
  • I have done that but I try to do it as little as possible, because I don't like throwing away food. I mean... it's bad for me because I am dieting, but there is nothing wrong with that food and I'm throwing it away.

That being said, I have poured water into a bag of crisps that had stayed behind after a party. I was afraid I'd eat the entire thing, and they were those shrimp crisps you're supposed to eat with rice. BAD BAD BAD stuff.

Usually I try to find someone else I can give it to. And when I've already promised it to them I probably won't eat it, because then I can't give it to them any more.
  • I've poured water on my food when going out to eat.
  • I've poured water into bags of chips after getting halfway through it, and my guilt kicked in.
  • gosh, I'm so glad I can be honest with you guys. I always felt bad about ruining my food. I always thought it was so wasteful.
  • Remember- junk food is bad for EVERYONE - not just people on diets. -

And - Sometimes you have to get rid of food before it goes to WAIST.

Yup- I put stuff down the disposal all the time.
  • I guess I'm lucky. I can usually feed it to the dog or toss it out under the bird feeder so I don't have to feel like it is totally wasted.

But if you don't have those options, take whatever measures work for you. It is NOT wasteful to avoid poor food choices.
  • it might sound odd, but when i throw stuff away i used to feel guilty because of the cost of the food, but then i thought about the cost i was saving myself and the health care system by losing weight and didnt feel so bad yeah, i over think things...
  • you are so right! by not eating the food that I don't need I'm saving myself money in the long run by not getting diabetes or having a heart attack.
  • I had a big party on Saturday at my house. There was a ton of food left from the caterers. I called a friend that holds GS meetings in her home Monday nights. She came and gladly took it all away.
  • My dogs are the disposals of my house for everything that isn't bad for them, like sweets.
