Default OT- here's your sign

So I'm standing in the line at Petco, with quite possibly the largest rawhide dog bone you've ever seen (3 foot long approx) and a 40 lb bag of Adult Large Breed dog food...

The lines really long so I'm just standing.. standing

tap on the shoulder: "Hey do you have a dog?" First.. I'm sure I gave the poor girl the "are you ****ing kidding me" stare. Then, I couldn't help it.. "nope I just found out about this new dog food diet so I decided to give it a try"

Thats not it. She actually looked like she believed me..

"So whats the big bone for?"

me: "my cat"

This was seriously the funniest thing in the world. I've always wanted something like this to happen to me, you know, where my smartass comments could actually come into play for the greater good. I know this has nothing to do with anything and it may not even be that funny but I thought it was hilarious.

Yes- but i'm not sure how because I'm really bad about that. But I think it was because she was completely convinced by my response.

*Giggles.* Back before my dog died I used to buy those huge rawhide bones for him too. I always got the obligatory, "Oooooh, you must have a pretty big dog!"

No way. He's a Jack Russel.

Never knew what breed he was. Some sort of super mutant pound puppy. At 8 weeks old when I got him he weighed almost 14lbs, and by the time he was a year he was topping 100lbs and hopping the 6ft privacy fence like it was nothing and scaring the crap out of people. I could never figure out how he managed to annihilate those bones within a week, but nothing would be left!

It always makes me wonder what people are thinking. How did your "cat" enjoy his treat?

That lady prolly went home to tell her story about the "crazy chick" at petco buying a huge bone for her cat.

Then googling the dogfood diet.

Random but, did you ever eat kibble when you were a kid? Like, on a dare? Or to avoid a pummelling from your older, meaner cousin? Or simply out of curiosity?

Like, just asking..

During the Melamine scare I sampled all of my cats food before I fed it to them. It's salty and kinda tastes like liver.

I actually have eaten the cookie-look a like treats petco has. they are really good. It started as a dare and then.. well I had a few more a few other times. I used to try all the treats that are made to look like a human food just to see how well they did with matching flavors.

Nish- my dog is about 100 lbs now too, he demolishes a bone in 30 min flat, we have to give it to him and take it away after 15 or so min otherwise we'd spend 100 a week on bones, they're so expensive!

That's hilarious. A straight face (or voice) will take you far . Once my sister was trying to take care of some credit card business or something like that. Anyway, they needed to talk to her husband not her. So she called and said she was him (and he doesn't have one of the boy or girl names). The poor rep said, "You're XYZ?????." My sister just said yes. And the poor rep just had to go ahead and help her.

Good grief, the money we spend on giant puppies, right? I think Mook topped out at about 130-ish in his prime. He lost about ten pounds when he started getting old, around 9. I dunno if you'll be able to find a supplier where you're at, but I knew a butcher that used to save smoked beef femurs for me to give to my dog and would sell them to me for $2. Granted, this was back in KS and out there cattle is 300:1 person so bones are dirt cheap, but my dog LOVED them and they kept him busy for about two weeks ... until he started digging these freakin' giant holes that went practically to the center of the earth to bury them. I should have sent him to work at a cemetery. It would have helped pay for the 80lbs of kibble he ate every two weeks.
