cold weather workouts

  • ive just worked out....
    im a freezing shed....
my question is if its colder do you burn more....?
must say im quite loving the early morning exercise!....
  • i've never heard that. in fact, i've heard the opposite. bc you sweat more. That's why some ppl wear heavy sweats when they work out.
  • I've heard that...
I don't know if you burn more, but I do know from experience that being cold makes you run a lot faster.

    Hahaha, so true
  • I read an article about it once, don't really remember. I do know that running when it's cold makes it more difficult to breath because you're breathing in all that cold air at a really fast rate. (ie; during winter) I used to run a lot during the winter and I'd end up feeling sick. Makes sense...

either way - here's an article. No you don't burn more because you should be properly dressed:

  • no, being cold doesn't make much difference. the body likes to hang on to fat when it's cold anyway so i wouldn't say being cold is ever a plus when it comes to weight loss.
