Calorie Counter

I am interested in buying a calorie counter so I can start keeping track of how much I eat everyday. Can anyone recommend a good one?

P.S. I'd really like one that I can fit in my purse.

If you look at the book store there are lots of the pocket sized ones. Never used any in particular but I'm sure it would depend on the person. Just browse through it and see if it contains the kind of foods you eat. For example if you're looking into making health on-the-go choices, make sure it contains a fast food section.

Alternatively, you could use www.fitday.com Many people around here, including me, use it to track our calories. It has just about every food imaginable. If there is something specific you have that they don't (say a certain meal replacement bar or a recipe) you can create a "custom food" where you name it and put in the calories, fat, etc. In addition to keeping track of your calories, its a good way to see your macronutrient ratio. It also gives you nifty weight charts and calories burned during exercises. All kinds of useful stuff.

I dont have time every day to get on the internet to track so i carry my Calorie King book with me and a small journal in my purse. They go wherever i go. This way as soon as i am done eating i can write it down. It also has lots of resturants in it. For 8 dollars it is one of the best investments since starting my diet.

Check out theDailyplate.com too, they have lots of foods beyond Fitday. I use a combo of both.

I didn't know there were calorie counter things. I will have to look into that myself. If you find a good one, let me know.

I use thedailyplate. I love it. It can't fit in your purse but it helps me plan and I've learned a lot about food and nutrition. I know most of the calories I eat so also keep a written record in a little notebook.
