  • Ok, So I started working out on Wednesday and I am going to weigh myself Tuesday morning (day 7) I have been eating very well and working out like crazy. We made a bet on day 2 to see how much I would weigh on Tuesday morning. He says that I will lose none or gain by tuesday, and I say that I will lose close to 5 lbs by tuesday. So it kind of makes it all fun. anyone else have any guesses? The first week is usually more drastic then anything else so I am just curious.
  • Hahaha, he said you were going to GAIN? What a jerk!!

I'll be the optimist and say you'll lose 6.
  • he just thinks that because I am working out so hard that my muscle mass gain will be more.

You can't gain muscle that fast. But if you work them hard, they will retain water.

Yep. That's why some people see a gain when they first start working out/lifting weights.

I don't know if I can bet on exactly how much, but I do wish you a great end of first week weigh-in
  • Regardless of what you weigh at the end of your first week, it will be a resounding success. Because of the CHOICES you made. The scale can stick or drop fast for all sorts of reasons besides fat loss. But every day that you eat well and exercise is a day your health is improving in so many ways, and habits are forming that will serve you so well. Way to go.
  • Ha! What a funny idea for a bet! I guess that's one way to motivate yourself. So what do you get if you "win" the bet? Hehe. But anyways, you're right, the first week is very drastic--in my first week of weight loss, I think I lost ~10 lbs! But I also started at a much higher weight than you're starting, so I would say that 5 lbs is a reasonable guess. And hey, that would put you in the 200s! Pretty sweet!

Best of luck with the weigh-in! I really hope you've put some kind of wager on this bet, because he is going to LOSE.
  • Good luck and i hope you lose 5 lbs! But dont be dissappointed if you gain a pound or 2. When you start wokring out your mucles start to retain water and sometimes it takes a week or 2 to see and results.
  • Who won the bet?
  • I am not goign to weigh myself until tomorrow morning so we will see. Like I said it's just for fun so, but it's also more fun to win!!! And we did put a small wager on it(but I can't tell you that). Oh and when i break out fo the 200's I am going to go get my hair done. So it's like a mini reward I know my body pretty well(we are very in tune). I will let you know the results tomorrow

    Waiting with bated breath ...
  • Everyone here is SOOO supportive and AWESOME! just wanted to say how much I appreciate it.
  • Ok everyone! It is Tuesday morning and I was SCARED TO DEATH to step on that scale. But I did and guess what I am at 209.0 EVEN yay to me I lost 5 lbs this week. And I haven't even gone to the gym today so technically I have the rest of the day to lose some more lol. This makes me feel soooo much better about what I am doing. I can't wait to get out of the 200's. Well one week almost down and the rest of my life to go!
  • WAY TO GO!
Actually, the morning is the best time to weigh, if you weigh tonight you may be heavier. So I'd go with the first thing in the morning weight.
  • yeah that's why I decided to weigh this morning instead of waiting until the rest of the day when it would be officially a week. Now I just have to stay away from the scale until next Tuesday morning ugh!
