I Feel Smaller Than I Am
This is probably the opposite of normal posts about people's weights.
I feel like I'm smaller than I actually am. I'm 5'5", weigh 214lbs, and am a UK size 12-14, US size 8-10. From everything I've seen on TV or in magazines, even the biggest celebrities only seem to be around 160-170lbs. When I read weightloss stories in magazines, people say, for example, one I read last night that she weighed 180lbs and wore a UK size 18 clothes (US size 22 I think). Could I have a weird form of BDD. Next to 140lbs friends I never feel that massive and in the gym I can kick the asses of people a good 60lbs lighter than me. A couple of years ago I lost 30lbs (going from 185lbs to 155lbs) but one of my teachers at school said she couldn't believe I had 30lbs to lose. Is there something wrong with me or what's going on? |
That's a great way to see yourself. It can get out of control if you let it, but it's not as bad as seeing yourself as a lot bigger than you are. You really aren't that big clothing size wise. I'll never fit a US 8/10, even when I've lost weight. I have a big bone structure. You wear a small size so you obviously carry your weight well. By that I mean, it's all spread so it's not in one place that makes you look like a twiggy marshmallow or something. Nothing against that either, but people know what I mean...it's just easier when it's proportionate.

I actually feel that way sometimes. I know that I way a lot and have a lot to lose, but I'm a size 18 some 14/16's and 5'11. I get looks from guys and people think I'm crazy for saying that I have at least 90 pounds left. I go running with my roommate who is 220 and 5'6 and I'm way more in shape than her. It's funny that I can be this big and still hold me own with running or sports, or dancing. I like it because it makes me feel that I can keep doing it and I can live my life now not wait like some have to do. I say strut yourself and do your thing.

you must have some kick *** muscles, bc I am 5'5 and 219 and wear a snug size 20

I feel the same too! I wake up feeling slimmer and the scale is not showing what I feel, Its very frustrating.

my problem is that I see a particular clothing item or outfit and I just know it will fit me great! Then, I try it on and see that it actually makes all my parts look awful. It's frustrating because how I envision myself is not what i actually look like on the outside! I joke that I feel like a skinny girl trapped in a fat girl's body. Sometimes, thats how I feel.

I have that same way of thinking... It was worse when I was bigger though...like I was deliriously telling myself that I didn't have a problem.
You def must carry your weight well!!! I'm about 5'5 and 203...and I wear a 14...snug in most pants... and 14/16 top. ...I'd be so happy in a 10! |
You definitely carry your weight well. I'm just a little shorter than you by about half an inch or so and weigh 18lbs less. I'm currently in a UK14 tops, 16 in skirts and 16/18 in trousers (I carry my weight in my bottom). Many people tell me that I don't look like I need to lose another 30-40lb.

I would say you prolly have a great view of yourself. Being 200+lbs and wearing a us size 8/10! Thats pretty awesome. I weigh 210 and wear a little big baggy size 16, but 14's are WAYYY too tight.
