You're not that tall, so I don't see why not? It's within the normal BMI range for your height.

I think it also depends a bit on how old you are. I know for me, now that I am older (44) I look a bit more youthful at a slightly higher weight than when I was at my low weight in college (around 125) because now collagen is somewhat lacking and firmness/fullness is an issue. Sometimes losing too much body fat is aging. Yes you don't want your face to look fat, but not too gaunt, either. Look at Steve Jobs. He has gotten many comments that he looks sick, b/c he is super thin now, which he attributes just to an obsessively healthy lifestyle.
I am working out to build muscle, and firm up, but don't want to look too thin--i.e.--too hollowed out, too haggard. And I actually like my womanly curves, rather than my straighter figure of youth. I personally think some women take it too far. Madonna is a little too sinewy and too hard for my taste. Her body fat has got to be extremely low. But look at Meryl Streep, Diane Lane, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon. Again just my opinion, but these women look awesome, no matter their age. I mean they look terrific, but not overly thin, or overly firm (yes I do think there is such a thing). I'm sure they have probably had some procedures, but they haven't carried it too far or let it become too noticeable. |
@blondeAmbition: yep its definately not an unhealthily low weight to aim for, i just cant imagine myself at 55kg :D It takes a long time for my head to catch up with my body though, so maybe on day i'll realise that there is really very little to stop me
@modcat: i totally agree. I want to be thin, but not a stick. I want people to look and think "wow she looks fit and health" not "wow, she looks like she could do with a pie". At 21 i dont think the collagen problem should be too huge (touch wood of course!) but you are righht, i dont want to look gaunt either |
The collagen thing should really not be a problem at your age.
Actually I have this plan that I'm going to work really hard to stay at my goal weight until I'm starting to see signs of aging, because I know then I can put on a few pounds to "fill out" and still feel I'm at an ok weight. Haha.. Of course this is a crazy 10-year plan that I will probably have forgotten by the time I'm in my thirties. :dizzy: As for being afraid of being a shape you're not happy with - how about setting a goal in terms of dress sizes instead of kilos? |
because dress sizes scare me haha :D actually, over here i find that dress sizes vary heaps. I can be a 12 in one store and a 16 in another. Maybe i should set a goal to be a certain size on average across all stores...hmmm. I'd be over the moon if i got into single digits, but again that sounds crazy to my brain :D
