How has working out/changing your eating habits affected your complexion, if at all?

As far as break outs, nothing has changed. I never really had them before just at TOM. But lately people have been saying that I'm just glowing. I really think it's because I'm drinking lots of water (at least 3 liters/ day), eating healthy, and working out. The best thing is I feel more confident, I think it's everything combined.

Funny you mention this. Just the other day I posted on a thread that my skin has been looking fabulous! It has taken about three months of dieting for me to notice a big change. I also notice that I am more sensitive to making sure I wear a ton of SPF products on my face, neck, and shoulders. I play a lot of softball and so those three areas are exposed all the time. I wear SPF Stila tinted moisturizer. When I play ball, I wear a Coppertone face lotion on top of this.

I just went home to southern california recently and ALL of my family members noticed how my skin has cleared up. I really have noticed myself, too. I knew that eating crappy food wasn't the best, but who knew a good water intake and less greasy food would make this much of a difference.

Wow, I'm envious of you all. I've had the opposite, the heavy sweaty workouts I've been doing haven't been kind to my forehead (near the hairline) or my upper back (ewwwww!).

my skin has become really dry because of the sweating (and the salt in sweat affects it really badly) and because i dont drink enough water >.< But it heals a lot quicker now i find, maybe its the increased circulation

I haven't had any breakouts since starting this.

Before, I would get those deep cystic blemishes that hung around for weeks, and left brown spots behind for months. I got them once a month.

Now.... I think in the last 5 months I had one tiny regular old zit that went away in two days.

BUT.... I also started a new skin care regimin at the same time, so either one or both could be responsible for my clear skin.

For those of you wondering about that regimin: after washing my face, I blot it dry gently with a towel. Then I apply a generous amount of 10% benzoil peroxide cream to my problem areas (my chin and mouth area) and gently work it in. The cream is easy to find at drug stores or the grocery store. I allow it to soak into my skin for 5-20 minutes before applying moisturizer or anything else. I do this once a day, in the morning. And that's it. Simple and cheap!

(I learned about this by reading an article by someone who also had the same types of acne problems, and this was the solution he found after much experimenting and research on his own.)

Because of the sweat I'll break out unless I tie my all back. I don't wear any makeup and wash my face in the shower as soon as I get home.

If I wear 50spf sun block on my face I break out. I just have to find one that's doesn't. My 15 spf doesn't, but i don't think it's strong enough. umph!

I had terrible breakouts when I was heavy, but part of that was atributed to PCOS. However, I eat much cleaner and work out regularly now, so I like to think that has something to do with it My breakouts disappeared when I hit about the 50 pounds mark.

ETA: I also have very sensitive skin that is prone to irritation and found that organic, GMO an petrochemical-free products worked really well. Before I would have to rotate constantly because my skin would flare up after using a product for a couple of weeks, but now I just use the facial cleanser and nothing else.

My face really cleared up.. my acne too.. I'll get them once in a while but still they rarely stay. My skin is a lot softer too.. honestly I don't use lotion very much.. very rarely.. but I do drink tons of water and that definitely helped clear away a lot of the unwanted things on my face.

taurie -- have you tried sunscreens specifically made for your face?? Neutrogena makes some, and I think Target makes generic brand Neutrogena stuff. It'll cost more than basic sunscreen, but they last a while since you're using them on such a small area.
