Floating Away...
I seriously feel like I'm going to float away I'm peeing so much! (Just from drinking the "correct" amount of water)
:swim: At least now I get to get up from my desk every 15 minutes! I feel like I'm in one of those incontenence commercials.. "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now!" It's starting to get slightly annoying... but I'm amazed at the difference it makes to drink the "correct" amount of water... and realizing how dehydrated I must have been before! |
I totally know what you mean. I started drinking the right amount of water on Tuesday. It's Thursday and I can tell a huge difference already. My body is craving water. I have an hour commute to work and I drank 33.8 oz on my way to work today. I didn't pee as much as I thought I was going to... my body is already getting used to having the extra water and is LOVING it. Don't get me wrong I still pee a lot more than I use to, but not near as bad as I was on Tuesday.
You're doing great and your body will love you for it. |
Okay -- so here's a question for everyone... (enough of my whining)
How do you make sure you're getting enough water?? Any tools? tricks? tips?? Personally, I got a 1 liter Voss bottle (I loovee the look of voss bottles!) and just re-fill it as the day goes on... I make sure to have at least two liters a day... I bought some crystal light... but haven't really desired using it yet... What about you all?? |
Haha since I drink only water and nothing but water, I am not too worried about the amounts I drink. I buy my water bottled in five liters and I need one 5-litre every 2 days so I feel I am fine.
Believe it or not, the best indicator if your hydrated is your pee. The yellower the pee, the more dehydrated you are. It doesn't matter how many times a day you go as long as it is watery colored to very, very light yellow. |

I'm getting annoyed carrying out 1 litre! (biiig purse, btw) |

You've figured out the secret! That's why drinking water is so good for losing weight, lol! I don't bother to measure my intake any more, but I do check the color of my pee. If I notice it getting darker, I up my intake again. |
I think the real indicator is not in the amount you are drinking, but that you are peeing frequently enough and when you do it is light yellow-to clear. For some people, it's accomplished by drinking little water, but sticking to things like tea. I do up my water when I know I've taken in more sodium than usual, but mostly I just try to pay attention to my body.

I don't drink nearly enough water, but I agree with the above posters. You should be able to tell how much water you need by seeing how light or dark your pee is. I've just bought a 1L bottle. So I plan to drink between 2 and 3 a day. Your post has reminded me to finish my 2nd bottle. It's not easy for me since I like to *taste* something, but it's worth a shot. It's good to know that the feeling of having to pee every 15 minutes goes a way.

Keep it up!
Your body will regulate your water intake after about a week and you won't have to pee so much anymore, but the peeing is a good sign. It means you're hydrated. It's when you stop peeing every few hours that you know you could probably drink a little more.
During the summer us grunts work outside all day, so I usually drink close to seven liters a day and might only pee once if at all! But when I go home and take off my t-shirt, I can actually wring it in the bath tub and get about three cups worth of sweat out of it. Ew!! |

Ok weird thing is, I never ever take water with me at the gym. I drink a big glass before I go and one after I come back but never between the exercises. |
This thread made me thirsty. :(

I read a clever trick in Self magazine about wearing eight bracelets to keep track of 8 glasses of water and you start the day with the bracelets on one hand and move them to your other for each glass you drink. I sometimes use an 8oz naglene to carry around in my purse or you can drink from a drinking fountain and about 1 big gulp= 1oz. ( You can test approx how much you drink in a gulp using something like a nalgene that has the oz on the side. I tried it by doing 9 big gulps to equal a cup and it was about right if you don't like carrying a water bottler all the time.)
