oh, these lists are great! I will have to update my MP3. "stealing fat" is going to be my new anthem! ;) thanks for the idea!

When driving, and just listening to music I'm a fan of punk, rock, alt... like rise against, iron maiden, nofx, social distortion, slightly stoopid etc.
But when I'm working out doing cardio I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE techno, or top 40 dance music. Especially faster tempo stuff for when I do intervals. The right music makes the workout go by MUCH faster. |

Yeah see the majority of the music on my comp/ipod is all old skool techno. I won't even bother posting what I have as far as that is concerned because no one would know who they were anyway (majority of it is old skool jungle/break beat hardcore). That will get me going in NO time! I love love love anything by 311, incubus (not so great for running to though), Social D... as far as something to run to: anything with Jenna G, Bad Religion,The Killers, The Bravery, Missy Elliot, Joe Budden, Lupe Fiasco, Pink, 30 Seconds to Mars,Korn, Staind, Rhianna, Jay Z vs. Lincoln Park... I could go on. Those are just a few of my favs in the ipod right now. |
Oh man! I cant believe no one has mentioned "Stronger" by Kanye West yet... that song gets me so pumped up. Same with "The Way I Are."
Anything hiphop makes me want to get up and do something. |
Yay! Cool thread; I love finding new workout music. I'm going to add some of my favorites, in no particular order (some of them are kind of dorky; don't judge... :D):
Lose Yourself - Eminem Rush - Aly & AJ Low - Flo Rida Love Song - Sara Bareilles Don't Stop Believin' - Journey Suddenly I See - KT Tunstall Fergalicious - Fergie Shut Up and Drive - Rihanna Out Tonight - Rosario Dawson (Rent) Head Over Heels - The Go-Go's Hanging On - Cheyenne Kimball Hey Driver - Lucky Boys Confusion |
I said this on another thread, but sean of the dead is an excellent treadmill movie.

I've recently found that I've got wayyy too much relaxing music on my iPod...so that's kind of a disappointment. So I guess that means I need to stock up. But anyway.
Most recently I've been listening to the album "Absolution" by Muse. In my case, it isn't so much lyrics of songs that get me pumped (though it sometimes is) as it is the beat. I need something with a fast beat, so I've found rock definitely does that. Before my friend burned that CD for me, though, I had been listening to Pink--mainly her album "I'm Not Dead" which not only has some pretty upbeat music, but the lyrics are often empowering as well. :) |
Oh man! I have to add another song to the list...
"Something Good" (High Contrast Remix) by Utah Saints Song is unbelievable (if you like electronica) |
Some songs I have on my shuffle for cardio:
- couple songs by Hot Chip - "Stronger" Kanye - "Body Movin'" Beastie Boys - "The Middle" Jimmy Eat World - "I Disappear" The Faint (a lot of their songs are great for workouts) - Postal Service - Britney Spears :) - U2, especially "Where the streets have no name" - "Way I Are" Timbaland - and my favorite, Daft Punk (good for running) As you can see I have a random mix of songs on my shuffle! But I've tested them all out on the road and find they're good for motivating me. Some songs I like to call my "secret weapons" for when I need that extra push. |
I like to listen to a Jason Mraz live album I got off eMusic...good, boppy beats for walking to, and it's so darn happy that it keeps me from *hating* my workout.
I also like the following when I need to kick it into gear: If You're Going Through **** -Rodney Atkins Before He Cheats -Carrie Underwood SOS -Rihanna Shiver -Maroon 5 Blue Orchid -White Stripes Offend In Every Way -The White Stripes Yeah -Usher Who Says You Can't Go Home -Bon Jovi With A Little Help From My Friends -Joe Cocker Its My Life - Bon Jovi Beat It -Michael Jackson Hand In My Pocket -Alanis Morissette I am the Walrus -Jim Carrey (trust me...it's a good one) Sweet Child O Mine - Guns N' Roses Blue Orchid -White Stripes You Learn -Alanis Morissette |
Here's my current list :

Hiya,
I just started working out today and although I'm normally a rocker at heart, I threw on (3) songs that I can't help but want to get up and move around to. 1) The Dixie Chicks "Somedays You Gotta Dance" Because it's oh so true 2) 69 Boyz "Tootsie Roll" because it really makes your tootsie roll lol 3) Michael Jackson "The Way You Make Me Feel" When MJ says "go on girl!" in the lyrics, I can't help but shout "Oh I am!" :-P |
Oh Lord, "Tootsie Roll" brings up an embarassing memory for me!
I remember walking down the street in an unfamiliar neighborhood, and saw a group of young guys watching me from across the street. Well, as soon as I had passed them they started shouting out this song, and of course I knew they were referring to me and my big bottom. :o I wanted to run away from there as fast as I could, but I kept walking and kept my head up instead. I can laugh about it now, though. Sort of. |
I really love digital hardcore when I'm working out like Atari Teenage Riot and Lords of Acid. Anything with a fast, hard beat! I like to work out to Dragonforce too! :P
