How Fast are You Losing?

As this is my first ever attempt at trying to lose weight, I have no idea what is normal for losing weight (though I've heard it's healthy to lose from 1-2lbs a week).

How fast do you guys lose? I've lost 3 pounds since January 22 but I've put on a ton of muscle mass and my Body fast percentage is down by 2% so I feel like it's a good start.

I lost 5 pounds in a little less than a month, and that was with just dieting, not much exercise.

2 lbs a month for the last 5 months

about 1 to 2 pounds a week. although sometimes after TOM, i'll lose 3 in a week. i've been very strict about my diet though and haven't taken time off of it except for major holidays. i've also been doing some kind of exercise about every day (although i've been slacking lately!). it has been difficult but i am in a hurry to lose the weight in a healthy way!

I usually lose about a half a pound a month now that I'm getting down to the last few, but this week for some reason I went from 137-133 in a couple days. I'm not complaining!!!!

I've lost about 7lbs in just over a month's time. But I'm sure some of that had to do with it being the beginning of this process still. I've also dramaticaly increased my activity level and know I've built muscle, but I don't have a way to measure BF%.

I think I about average a pound a week. Sometimes its 2 pounds, sometimes its half a pound, I actually gained half a pound at my last weigh-in (although I suspect I will have a good week this week, I believe that the gain was water weight due to TOM), but overall I lose about 4 pounds every month or so. I think i'd be doing better if I could avoid some of the temptations I succumb to here and there, but at the same time losing a pound a week while having some indulgences is pretty cool.

I've lost 3 lbs in almost 2 weeks.

I'm losing 2 pounds a week, sometimes 3. I'm happy that the weight is going, but I know that its going a little fast which means some of it is muscle. I would not normally be happy about that, but my pre-diet body composition test indicated that I had more lean body mass than I need (eg more than my goal weight). So..... I'm expecting it to slow down, and my goal is 1-2 # a week.

1-2 pounds a week is average and GOOD FOR YOU. If it comes off at this rate it will be easier to keep off. Some people who lose 5 pounds a week have a hard time keeping the weight off.

I've been losing about 2-3 lbs. a month now for 6 months. Not much, but it adds up.

jillybean720 02-13-2008 12:48 PM

I've lost an average of 3 pounds a week for the past 4 weeks, but I'm starting out at a MUCH higher weight than most of you, so it's expected that I lose more at first. It's been all diet since I'm lazy and haven't done any exercise.

My first reaction to the title of the thread was, "not fast enough". But I know I shouldn't be thinking that way. :)

I restarted my weight loss on January 2 and after losing larger amounts for the first 2/3 weeks, I'm now averaging about 1-3 lbs a week now.

Like a lot of people are saying you can expect to loose faster in the beginning when you have more to loose. I think it also depends on your fitness level. I lost 13 pounds last month but it was my first month eating well. I was already exercising regularly but I ate like a PIG!!! So when I started a low GI diet and upped the intensity of my work outs I lost pretty fast. Now I think I can expect 2 to 3 pounds a week.
