first time on here, saying hello

i've never been on a site like this so i really don't know the protocol or what all is offered... but it would be nice to meet some new people and find some badly-needed moral support. only 3 years back i lost 95 pounds, went from a size 20 to an 8... but the last couple of years were so stressful that i'm almost back where i started. i very recently got out of a bad relationship (the main source of the stress/self-esteem issue) and am ready to get back into those size 8's... only i'm having much more trouble getting any weight to shift this time around. i think it could be helpful to come on here and remind myself that so many other girls are going through the same thing... it's easy to feel alone right now, and that doesn't help. i don't want to give up.

welcome! I just sort of came back to the site after travelling and not having a computer for a while.

I am sure you will find support here as I have. Do you have mini goals to get you through this? I find those are less stressful for me than thinking of the total amount of weight I want to lose. I also try to treat each day as new and each decision contributing to my weight loss. Like if I turn down a dessert that is offered I can be proud of myself for that because that will help me lose weight. Congratulations on getting out of the relationship. I hope you are doing well.

Welcome!

This is a fantastic site for weight loss support and so much more. :)

Relationships are hard, but you've taken the first step in getting out. I hope it all goes easily from here.

Do you have a plan of some sort? What helped you lose the weight the first time?

Well sounds to me like you already lost X amount of pounds getting rid of the cause of all your stress. Congratulations on the first of all. Second of all welcome to the board, I have found it very useful, usually when I find myself wondering about something I can come in here and usually find the answer. If you dont mind me asking how did you lose the weight the first time? Is that an option this time around?

I just joined yesterday and have already had replies to my 1st thread so I think you will find lots of support here for you!
Good Luck!

Welcome...welcome...

I assume from your name that you are a new single mommy. There are several of us out here. I am a single mom to a 9 year on boy and 6 year old girl.

There is tons of support here. Good luck to you on your journey.

hello all, thanks for the response!!

Several people asked how I lost the weight the first time... and to be honest, it wasn't necessarily in the healthiest ways. When I get on a kick I have a tendency to go overboard (my OCD kicks in I think). I went on crazy calorie restriction to start with, I think I started off around 800 cals per day and towards the end that was cut back to 500. On top of that, I was walking on every break and lunch during the work week (around 1 1/2 hrs total per day), running on my treadmill for an hour at least 5 times per week, and doing 30 minutes of pilates and 100 crunches every night. It worked awesome, pounds just melted, but I realize that 500-800 cals probably isn't a healthy amount.

I'm trying to keep it more like 1000 right now with most of the same exercise, but weight isn't dropping in the same way and it's getting so frustrating... I can feel myself going boot-camp and wanting to drop those calories again. i mean, it didn't kill me and it WORKED... very hard to resist the temptation of excess. that's probably why i'm back in this condition to begin with. Only 7 more lbs have come off, to 211... that's still so, SO far to go!

by the way, somebody mentioned mini-goals... i was trying for 195 by 12/31 which I won't quite make, so i've adjusted that to be my goal by 1/15. ...and thank you for all of the congrats on ditching the no-good ex... that situation is still a little bit rough (we have a 3 yr old together), but improving. I hope you ladies have a wonderful Christmas.
