skinney clothes
yes, we all have a few token items, that we have saved, in order to fit in them 'soon' but where do i draw the line, i have;
i am currently a size 14; 2 skinney jeans (one size 9, one size 4) 1 jeans size 11 1 jean shorts size 11 2 coats (one large fancy coat, one medium leather) a bunch of old t-shirts that i really need to toss (medium) a few dress shirts for work, size 8, 3 dresses, size small, but everything else is GONE-donated, from size 6 all they way up... what do you suggest, should i donate this stuff?:?: what do YOU have? |
If it's stuff that you like and it's still fashionable then no I wouldn't get rid of it. I'd keep it. It is totally doable to get back into them.
|
Save it and keep it as clothing to let you know how far you've come along the way. Sometimes the scales are evil but clothing is a certain "marker" for your success.

i have a bunch of clothes that i bought the last time i was losing weight that were tight when i bought them, but i figured they would fit becuase i thought i was going to keep losing...but soon they will fit more properly. i am excited to be a size 9 or 7. i have never been either of those!
|
Just throw it out! LOL It will be more fun to re-buy those things when you fit into those sizes again. Or maybe keep ONE thing in each size and toss the rest.
|
I just keep the "skinny" clothes that are either so original i don't think i'll find an equal replacement, or the ones that are very nice/expensive. For me, its a total of about 6 items which are my fav old skinny jeans, size 9 (almost there!), a couple of pairs of dress pants for work that were expensive, and a couple of cute dresses.
|
I kept some of the things that I absolutely love and just can't bear to part with. Other than that I just went ahead and donated everything. I agree with the poster that said it would be more fun buying things later. That's very true. :)

i have 2 things i'm saving to wear again when i hit my goal one is my winter coat suede sized at 13/14 and my little black dress thats a medium, and now that i'm not worried about having more kids the sexy tops i had bought in my thin days are going on the goal.
i think i kept my size 14 jeans i hope i did i know i gave my 12s away perhaps my 11s too i do have 1 thing i wont get rid of even tho i know i wont wear it again but its my wedding dress(its a blue flowered sundress) thats an 11/12 |
i have a pair of 27 seven jeans that i could, when i was 132, get up around my butt but not button (there were like 3 inches!) and i will not give those up! my roomate who is v. thin borrowed them once without asking and then asked me again and i let her but i think i made it clear that I didn't want to. haha. it didnt help that the reason she was borrowing them was that she was too "big" for her jeans or that I want to have them be perfect and unworn when i finally get to wear them! i think they would probably fit me at 128.
|
also - my goal is to get so i dont have these love handles so i can wear sexy tops again! with my gigantic rack (hehe its true) i need to have a totally thin stomach or else I just look chubby :(
|
I own several pairs of wickledly expensive jeans that I could squeeze into, but I'm going to sell them on eBay. It's just not feasible for me to lose weight when I don't need to (I'm a TRUE size 26/2, which is about a size 25/0 due to vanity sizing these days now, and my jeans all fit a size 24, which I will not squeeze in. Muffintops = not cute)

I am in all of my small clothing. This is the smallest I've been in my adult life however I did recently get rid of all of my "fat clothing" except for my one starting out that I take pictures in. I can't wait to be able to buy skinny clothing.

Last winter I donated alot of things to SA. It was a bag full of "Denial" at the time ... lol ... but I did save a few things that I LOVED ... 7 items ... folded neatly in the the back of my closet. ... tied together by a belt I can't fit either ... ... some are some really nice pieces most being sizes 10-18... they represent all of the phases of my overall goal ... 150 ... but I'd rather start off with a newer wardrobe as I progress ...

What's interesting, is I'm the smallest I've been since 7th grade (I'm in Juniors 13s now, and I was wearing Juniors 13s when I came into 7th grade). So, I didn't have any clothes to save. I gave all my too-big clothes away over the summer. I HAVE, however, bought some smaller sizes for inspiration :) I have a couple pairs of jeans in size 11 and a pair in size 9 that I bought over the summer!

Through the years I've amassed quite a clothing collection. Except for the odd item I come across in my closet (or a box) that I now think is fugly, I can't bear to part with my things. My dd is 9 now and if I can't wear them hopefully she will get to. I remember being 16/17/18 and wishing my Mom had saved more of her 'vintage' clothing. LOL.
My only concern is that we're built different. I always had a small waist, w/ excess weight going to my thighs first. She has lovely slim legs, but w/ a bit of a tummy. Could be the age though? Anyway, I think u should keep your stuff if possible. |
My vote is to keep what you love, and toss the rest.
When I started gaining weight back, I tossed most of my skinny clothes that I didn't love. The stuff I still have is a pair of size 11 jeans, some size 9 goth pants  (Hey, I was darn proud of those...these were bought after my doc told me I could lose all the weight I wanted, but I'd never get a single digit size over my hips :p), and a green size 12 formal gown. Everything else went the way of the dinosaur. If I'd held on to everything, my closet would be overflowing. I am nothing if not a clothes horse. |
Keep them all!
I kept my skinny clothes from back in 2005. My girlfriend kept telling me that I should give them away or sell them to a consignment shop since she didn't think I'd ever be able to fit them again. I can fit almost all of them now and it feels like victory every day! BWAHAHA! I WIN! I shop for new clothes right in the comfort of my own closet. It will be such a rewarding feeling when you can do the same. :) |
Madame
I love that you have 7 items of clothing wrapped in a belt that doesn't fit. Great Idea---- LOL, that is so me, and I love the way you worded that, very funny. That is great. See this is the stuff I love on here. =)~

I kept one suit that fit for maybe a month (size 6). One dress (size S). Some lingerie (I can dream can't I?)
The rest went to Goodwill and the Women's shelter resale shop. I figured that I would deserve a shopping spree if I ever got back down to that weight. Fast forward to 7 years later: Since I kept almost nothing - I have been to Goodwill shopping for "in-between" clothes the last month. NOTHING fits anymore. While this is awesome, my work wardrobe is dwindling to a bunch of oversize clothes that really do not fit. What a wonderful problem to have!!! |
I say keep it all, but I am a HUGE packrat. I have every pair of jeans I've owned since 10th grade that weren't falling apart. My pants range from 14-24, and it is my goal to one day be able to throw away that one size 14 because it's too big. I also have a lot of shirts hanging around, too. Mostly of my shirts back in the day were t-shirts, and most fit me now anyway, but I do have several "nice" shirts that are too small. I hope to toss them one day because they are too big as well.
