I have been sooo tired this week. I think I have just been staying up too late. I am not as young as I once was... I did ok with making it to my workouts, but I missed weights on Wednesday and I didn't get up early enough to go this morning before my journal meeting, so we'll see if I get around to that. If not, my "free day" tomorrow will involve both lower body and upper body weights. That'll help me sleep well! I am going to West Virginia next weekend to visit my best friend from college so I need to stay on track especially with doing school work, but also with the eating and exercising since I'll have 4+ days away from the gym, drinking beer and eating biscuits. It's going to be so worth it to see my friend and get away from the city.

Oh, also, GO RED SOX! This East Coast Girl is a Sox fan through and through.

Amberelise: I'll have to try that jicama. I've only ever had it in salads and stuff in a restaurant, and it's hard to figure out if you like it when it's doused in dressing or surrounded by mango or something.

Addicted: At least you know all the reasons it could be - stick with it! I find that if I stop eating early in the evening and/or use the bathroom (y'know) before weighing, these push my weigh-in down a lot. It's so arbitrary! If you're not a daily weigher, maybe you should try weighing every day just to see how much it bounces up and down.

Thank you Amberelise, those suggestions were very helpful. We need to catch up on some healthy shopping this weekend (have good stuff for dinners, but nothing for lunch) and I really love some of those ideas. I'm :o very ashamed to say I'm currently surviving off of nature valley granola bars and cup o'noodles. It works calorie-wise, and if I spread it out it keeps me filled, but I just DON'T feel good about eating it day after day. Love the ideas of chopping up veggies on the weekend so you can easily take them during the week I will have to try that this weekend so I am better prepared for next week.

Week going well so far eating wise, went out to dinner last night for my mother-in-law's birthday and didn't completely blow it (okay, 200 calories over what I aim for...but previous day was 200 under so we'll call it even). However, completely neglected the exercise. Husband has been very encouraging on that end and we finally got our xbox back from the microsoft people so I have a place to watch DVDs and work out on the exercise bike or lift weights. I definitely notice a difference from not getting in my walks this week, hopefully next week will be better, and I'm going to aim to get in one weight routine this weekend to get myself started.

I have a new workout buddy! One of my friends, he's lost 32 lbs. so far, and I know he won't ditch me. I think it'll be easier working out with a guy because all of the girls I attempted to workout with in the past have turned it into a competition. I don't like that, my health isn't a competition, nor am I trying to upstage anyone. I'm losing for my body and focusing on MY body ONLY.

readyfreddy 10-05-2007 03:59 PM

addicted - sorry hun! that sucks!

kim - sounds like a great buddy to have!

Jennt 10-05-2007 06:11 PM

So tired..
Got back on the wagon in the last couple days. Did two hours at the gym - 30 minutes doing a core class then straight into power yoga for an hour and a half. Doing core first made it SO much harder! BTW, if you've never tried balancing on a bosu ball, it's hilarious. Gotta get me one of those.

I went to indian last night and DID NOT get CTM - This is huge for me because it's what the DF and I always order because it's delicious, but I always feel icky after because of the cream in it. Instead I got stewed chickpeas, got filled up after only a few spoons and have the rest for dinner tonight. Yay!

Today, the usual yogurt/flaxseed combo, miso and sushi for lunch. Going back to that farm stand after work for raspberries and the best melon evver.

Sunday, I'm trying on wedding dresses! OMG! I have to say I'm a little nervous-my body is so wierd with broad shoulders and no curves to speak of. I hope the dresses fit and I don't look like a snowbeast.

Hi all,

Wow, there has been too much going on for me to be able to keep up with the chatter this week. I'm been trying to follow along, but not really having enough time to comment or pass on some support. But it looks like everyone is doing a great job. Keep it up! And for everyone who feels a little down this week, keep your chin up! You'll get there too! :grouphug:

For me this week, things have been going great. I have managed to stick to my plan, despite the very tempting lot of chocolate bars sitting on the front counter at work. Well see how this weekend goes, seeing as it is Thanksgiving up here this Monday. :turkey: Just got to watch my portions and try to avoid the dessert if possible.

I did see the the scale go down. I'm down a total of 5 pounds as of this morning! :carrot: Can finally move the ticker down a little more!

Good luck to all:D

Hey all. TGIF right?

I'm all alone. :( All my friends have headed home for thanksgiving. My parents are going to be arriving here early tomorrow, so I'm lonesome for the night.

Plus I'm exhausted. A week of very little sleep has finally caught up with me. I'll probably hit the sack early tonight and sleep straight through. :)

Good luck with everyone's thanksgiving. Keep those portions in check, but enjoy the festivities. ;) Although I guess it's not everywhere that has thanksgiving this weekend is it?

addicted - have you tried taking measurements? Maybe it'll be a boost to see something come off, even if it's not in pounds.

Jennt- I hear you. So tired. sigh. Congrats on the NSV though. I find it so hard to resist the foods I want at restaurants.

Kim - workout buddies rock. I used to be scared to workout in front of guys. But I joined a co-ed soccer intramurals, and realized it's not so bad. I do get competitive though, but since I'm a horrible athlete (despite loving workingout...) so I always lose. I usually just have to compete with myself.

highhopes - Five pounds???!!!! Fantastic! That's some awesome work. Good luck with your Thanksgiving. :D you can do it.

hope2loseit4good 10-06-2007 12:02 AM

I bought jicama......:):) I'll try it tomorrow... Amberelise, you are such a trendsetter in health food;)

Addicted5915 10-06-2007 06:31 AM

aww--I hope you guys have a great thanksgivings.

Thanks so much for the words from people. I should take my measurements. I do have a too tight pair of jeans that I try on, and the muffin top is getting less and less on them, haha. but who knows if thats because i try them on almost every day! and stretch them out. I'll have to do it the right way with some measuring tape, ha.

I am going to cut some carbs---not do atkins or anything, but just to mix it up. Try to have only 2 servings of bread/potato/pasta/cracker type things. Because those are usually at least over half of my diet. We'll see how that goes.

eastcoast: hope you have a great time!

blues4miles: ha, i survive off of nature valley bars too! I'm not buying anymore! i really really like the peanut butter ones. its a problem.

Jenn--Good luck with dresses. Thats so exciting. you'll find the perfect one! There are so many styles, its just going through them. Thats suppose to be fun, right? Ha.

highhopes: CONGRATS on the five pounds.

Kim: Yeah, whenever I work out with my friends who are girls---we slack hardcore. They haven't been as into as me, and than for some reason I feel guilty if I do more than them. Nuts. You'll do well with somebody who has similar goals as you, but who you don't have to compete with.

This jicama business seems like a new thing to try, ha. I will have to look into it.

readyfreddy 10-06-2007 02:12 PM

i love jicama but HATE cutting it - seriously almost took off my hand once. its very hard on the outside! so i pay the extra couple of cents per ounce and buy the precut sticks. yum!

jenn- snow beast- hehe. you will look FABULOUS! im sure!!! let us know what kind of styles you end up liking and of course if you find a dress.

me- i have a dinner date tonight... were going to this really nice restaurant with small plates that does things like seared foie gras (which I LOVE) and lobster and such. im going to allow myself a LOT of cals for dinner and enjoy myself but also be reasonable and not over eat and not go for the bread basket as the food itself is so marvelous! i am nervous about weighing tomorrow... i havent been that great this week. almost no exercise. sigh. we shall see!

have a great weekend! ps anyone else get 3 days? i have monday off!

to all our canadians - happy thanksgiving!

TxBrittany 10-06-2007 04:16 PM

Well I haven't been around much for the past two months, work has been keeping me busy and tired! So I haven't been as good as I should be and my weight has stalled at 144. But Monday morning I'm kicking things back into high gear! My goal is to get to 140 by Halloween, 135 by Thanksgiving, and 130 by Christmas. I'm taking it slow so I think that's doable!

ollie27 10-06-2007 08:23 PM

Had a busy busy week of midterms and, err, Fiddler's Convention... not much time to post, but keeping up with the talk. I did really well, as the convention is nothing but funnel cakes, fried foods and such. Pleased at my purchase of one baked sweet potato thank you very much.

Freddy--have a great date:)

Remember--Vegas baby, Vegas!

Jennt--stewed chickpeas, yummy. excellent choice. I love Indian food!

Have a great weekend gang!

Hunting for jicama,

Ollie

mrsgeb2 10-07-2007 12:16 PM

This has been a really hard weekend.

My emotions are getting the best of but I have not let a tear fall. I will stay strong and continue to believe that this can be done. My heart is broken and I'm very lonely but I will make it through, or at least try my hardest to.

I hope you ladies have a blessed Sunday!

Cats tongue 10-07-2007 02:22 PM

Hey all.

I hope your weekends are going okay. I'm skipping my weigh-in this weekend. Let's just say my eating the past couple days hasn't been brilliant and I know that it'll show on the scale... and even though it's just a fluctuation, it always makes me depressed. And that just leads to worse eating. Plus tonight is thanksgiving and we're going out to this fantasmic vegetarian chinese good place and I don't want to be feeling guilty about my eating. ;)

addicted - sounds like a good plan. keep us posted on how it goes.

jana - *Hugs* to you. :( I hope whatever is bringing you down gets better soon.
