Good morning ladies! I hope it's alright if I just jump on in here. Today is my first full day. I'm very excited about this change in my life, and at this point am feeling very motivated to make good choices and stay on track! You ladies all seem wonderfully supportive!

Have a great day!

Wannabeskine - welcome to the forum. Good luck. Everyone here is wonderful.

So I looked at the apartment . . . great fitness room, weight room, small pool, hot tub, and sauna. And it totals out to be about $150 a month cheaper. I'm seriously thinking about. I have to look into a co-signer and see if I can fit everything in the space I will have. She's going to talk to her parents off of the furniture problem (the problem is we have to much).

Hmm that sounds like a good apartment deal! I say go for it

I just got home from a graduation party. I was doing good all day, had a healthy but small dinner before I left, when dinner was served, I picked a bit.... had a bite of pasta, a pickle, a few olives, some broccoli, and a piece or two of meat from inside a hero sandwich. Nothing major, and I figured I was doing fine. Then when dessert came out, it all went to **** . I think I had like 3 chocolate chip cookies (pretty large) and 3 brownies. I also had two cups of coffee along with that (a tiny splash of milk in one, so thats not a big deal). There were some bowls of candy that I snacked on as well. Not to mention (even though this isn't too bad) the watermelon and grapes I kind of gorged on. Yuck, I feel so gross right now, and my stomach has been acting up all night. I have yet another party to go to tomorrow, but I think they'll have healthier food there and I hope that I've learned my lesson .

hey, no worries. you've admitted to making a mistake with your food last night, and you're ready for a new day! it happens! if it makes you feel better, this past monday, i had a healthy breakfast, then my supervisor invited me and my mom for a buffet lunch, and i definitely DID NOT eat right ( 1 fattening meatball, 1 chicken satay, 3 pieces of sashimi, a slice of fried chicken, and more grease, along with, a square of cheesecake, a small fruit tart). but that night, and the day after i got back on track! i believe in you, you've gotten this far..and i know you have the power to go even further

Welcome, wannabeskine!

So, today is day 3 of carb detox, and I know I'm going to do well UNTIL...
TONIGHT! Some friends and I are going to have a drunken get-together. If everyone else is going to be drunk, I want to be drunk, too, because it's depressing to see everyone else in that jolly, perpetually amused state and then sit in sobriety watching from the sidelines. Lame. I think I'm going to bring some rum and diet coke or gin and diet tonic to the party so that I can still get drunk without the impact of carbs and calories. I guarantee that my friends will think I'm uber lame for this, but I don't care... I'd rather be lame, still have a good time, AND not ruin my weight loss progress than drink to my appetite's content of sugary drinks and beers.

We'll see if I actually live up to this...

NightShane - Barcardi and Diet coke is carb free I think.

cagesorwings - I think I am going to go for the apartment. How did your party go? Betther then the last one.

kateconfessional - At least you were able to get back on track. On meal like that isn't going to kill you.

I didn't even go out drinking last night... I decided it would be too risky, especially since one of my friends insisted upon making camacazis and I'm NOT going to be downing all that sugar and calories... I knew he would be offended/irked/upset if I didn't drink it, too, so I just blew everyone off. It wasn't a big deal, really... he called me once to see if I was still coming out to play ,but when I said I wasn't, he didn't think it was that big of a deal. Whew.

scale is up 1.5 lbs since yesterday morning... lol, good times! just have to roll with the fluctuations i guess. and blame the scale, because its clearly broken. and i most likely weigh ten pounds less than it says (yeah right).

night - good call on the avoidance. i am so used to the nonsugary alcoholic bevs that i would go into sugar shock if i had a kamakaze... used to drink them like crazy in college though... they BURN your tongue because they are so sweet.

remember - that apt sounds awesome. how much are apts in detroit on average?

having a break in the middle of the week was awesome, so now the weekend is sooooooo close.

crazy story: my first boyfriend ever (when i was like 14) and i recently got back into touch (we didnt see each other after high school)
and hung out the other night (just as friends). he is really sorta hot now, and i was surprised to be attracted to him. now he's telling me he wants to dump his girlfriend and date me... uh?? can anyone say BAD IDEA? we barely know each other anymore. he could break up with his girlfriend (of 2 years) and then we could date for a week and figure out we don't like each other. i'd suggest we just keep hanging out as friends, but now it seems scandalous.

hey guys, hope everyone's fourth was good

mine actually sucked BIG TIME... I had a weird emotional breakdown in the middle of the party I went to (though not at the party, in my car, so not embarassing, just sad lol) but managed to have an okay time anyway. I was able to control my eating fairly well... unfortunately the only salad they had was drenched in oil or something... yuck, but I figured it was better than nothing so I stuck to that. I had a little bit of this pasta & beef and a piece of chicken, but beyond that I stuck to the raw broccoli. I told myself I wouldn't have any chocolate, and I almost did that, I had two chocolate strawberries... I couldn't resist! And it was worth it. Beyond that I just ate a lot of fruit near the end of the party, which may be a lot of calories but at least it wasn't a lot of fat or a lot of chocolate. And I'm not up any weight this morning (actually down .5 lb from yesterday) so I'm not worried.

shane, I hope you had fun even though you turned the invitation down! I know how you feel, I've blown off quite a few invites recently because I knew as soon as I got there I'd be gorging myself on food... just not worth it.

cagesorwings, my fourth sucked too! It was soooo boring. I didn't go drinking, like I said... I was actually looking forward to drinking, but all the calories + carbs weren't worth it, plus I have work today, which I have to wake up at 5:30 for anyway, so I wouldn't be able to stay and party all that long anyway. I miss having my own business! <----I owned a web design business. I still do, but I got broke so I had to get a regular job. The economy is total crap right now. My job is alright; I get a 20 mile bike ride every day to and from it, so that's the plus side!

Sorry to hear your fourth sucked.... I sort of had a weird emotional breakdown, too, just thinking about my life - where it once was vs. where it is now - I feel like I lived out my prime two years ago. HOW SAD IS THAT? (I was THIN, I had a band, I was a full time actress, living in big cities... basically a dream come true... but short lived.)

Aw man mine was directly related to my life as well. Kind of the opposite maybe, because I was just freaking out about if I would ever HAVE a prime you know? lol. My family is going through some emotional changes right now, and that kind of set me off, then I ended up sitting outside the party in a car on the phone with my sister, crying about my major and the students involved in it, my future, my talent, guys, friends, etc. etc. etc. pretty much everything. All I really wanted to do when I went back into the party was eat smores x1000 but instead I ate fruit. When I got home I had like 20 cups of tea to stop me from eating a million lbs of food, so I am proud that I didn't overeat due to my emotions yesterday.
Today I'm still feeling ****ty though, and I tried to explain to my Mom my feelings and she didn't help at all. I think its just one of those moods that will pass eventually, I just need to lay in bed and watch movies or something... that is, after I go to the gym....
AGH! Don't you just want to run around in circles and scream sometimes?!

NightengaleShane – It was probable a good idea that you avoided the party. I hate when people can’t have fun unless everyone around them drinking. Sometimes I like to just go out and not drink.

Megan – I’m excited about the apartment. The thing that I am most excited about is the gym. Apartments in Detroit really range in price. I live in the downtown district, near the Casinos because that is where I go to school. But for a safe one bedroom apartment on the lower end of the scale that doesn’t have many features is like $600 and they go up to about $1500 for a one bedroom. For a two bedroom apartment generally range between $1000 and $2000. The reason I would be saving so much money is I would have a roommate so rent would be cheaper, also this apartment includes some of the utilities that I am paying for now, and then splitting the utilities.

Cagesorwings – Sorry that you had a breakdown on the 4th of July. It sounds like you tried to keep your eating under control. Good job on being down this morning.

My fourth was really boring. I just stayed in my apartment all day and worked on a paper for my class. Today was the last day we could send my prof. drafts to look at so I wanted to get as much done as possible. I have 12 of the 15 pages. Today was my last day of class. I still have a final exam and this paper due. I’m excited to have a break from class even though I’m going to have to pack up my apartment.
