My husband is a big gamer, he has EVERY system under the sun. Anyway, I made him buy me Dance Dance Revolution, and let me tell you that was the BEST $60.00 spent EVER!!!

For those of you not sure what it is, it is a video game that comes with a dance pad that you lay out on the floor, and while watching the tv screen, try to match your movements with the arrows on the screen!!!!

We ended up getting it home and started playing right away, and almost 2 hours later we finally got ready for bed. The best part of the game is that it was a workout mode, you imput your weight, and what your goals are (burning X amount of calories, or a time limit, or mileage).....I definietly felt it in my legs last night, and this morning....I was sweating like a pig, doing this last night! It is a great cardio workout!

I would buy DDR, but I need to buy the game system first. I'm not big on games at all, so I never had the need.

Sometimes, I consider investing in it just to play DDR. heh heh.

I would kill for DDR, but we live in an apartment, and something tells me the people downstairs wouldn't appreciate my workouts so much. I'm looking forward to the day I can afford a house so I can finally get it!

NightengaleShane, me too! I have a teenager and we never had gaming consoles in the house. Now that he lives with his dad, I wouldn't have the concern of him wasting all his time on one.

I feel the same way about Wii.

ShellyMae, do you wear shoes when you do it, or do you do it in socks? Do you have carpet in your living room? I have hardwood floors.

I wear my socks, and I do have carpet in the living room...I'm sure that you could do it with shoes, it doesn't say where you can't wear them......

I have it, but the mat that came with ours suck...I've only played it twice and got real stressed with it b/c it kept telling me I was missing when I know I wasent!

what gaming system is it on?

DDR is awesome. I play a lot and have gotten pretty good. Almost ready to challenge those little kids on the boardwalk. :carrot:

I have it for PS2. I'm pretty sure that it is available on all systems.

I REALLLY want DDR...we have a Nintendo Wii, and I know they have a "mario mix" version for game cube...it must be popular though, because I can't find it anywhere! I have played the arcade version as well as the x-box and playstation versions and it is GREAT.

The mario mix ddr is not so good. At least, not in the long run. The songs are not very song-like. I have DDR on ps2, and it is probably the most fun exercise you will ever experience. It's a great way to get moving in a fun way. They even have a work-out mode that tracks calorie loss and all that. It's wonderful.

Nightengale: you don't have to have a game system. You can download Stepmania on your computer, buy a dance pad (you can get them used for a decent price), and order a converter so the pad can hook right up to a USB port in your computer. It's a **** of a lot cheaper than spending $100+ on a system, and $50+ for the game / dance pad. And it works pretty much the same, as far as I know. If you want more info on it, let me know. I'll check with my friend, he's obsessed with it!

Winter, I would love more info! I don't want to buy the game system.

I did read something about a lack of songs with Stepmania.

If you could ask your friend what we need to do to get it, that would be great.

We have Apple. laptop and a regular apple.

hmm thanks for the advice about Mario Mix....maybe I'll have to look into the computer version. I have an ibook.

DDR is definitely a fun game. I don't know if it's worth the purchasing of a new console and the game. I have it for PS2 and I am a gamer who has every game system known to man. I actually got a little tired of it though. I prefer something like Turbo Jam. I have 2 versions of DDR and I don't like the fact that it slows your heart rate a little before changing songs even in quest mode. I also paid a lot of money for the dance mat and it doesn't last very long. I don't know of anyone who has purchased it for the 360 but I'm sure it's just as good as the PS2 version.
I would follow the advice of the person who mentioned Dling the comp. version.
