I want RESULTS!
I've been doing this dieting thing for awhile now, and I'm still at a stand still w/ progress (Though I'm running at least 4 miles about 5 times a week now) I'm still feeling so BLAH in the body department. Its bad, because its starting to mess with my head and I'm thinking I should restrict or just not worry about dieting at all. I know this isn't a great way to think, and I just started the Slim Fast thing so I can see how that is going.
I'm also drinking a glass or 3 on the weekends, but I've cut down from Thurs through Saturday, to just Friday. I know I should just stop with the alcohol, but socially its difficult. Anyone know any better drinks? I was drinking Vodka Tonics, which I thought was only about 60-70 for the vodka, but apparently Tonic is just as bad as soda?! Eeek. I guess bourbon and diet? Or some type of liquor and diet? I can't believe I'm trying to fit in alcohol into my diet :) I'll really try to limit the alcohol and be more patient with this whole thing, just gets frustrating! Also to go along with the other post, I feel like I've lost at 20 pounds, and MY clothes are bigger, but new clothes aren't yet? So weird... I mean the last time I bought jeans was about a year or 2 ago, but its frustrating that new 14s are still "fitting" meanwhile my 14s are swimming, SAME brand too... Dumb clothing companies. Also, I don't want to buy new 14s or even 12s because I'm just feeling SO close to a bigger change... Oops, look this up in the dictionary and it would be right next to RANT. Thanks and I apologize ahead of time for anyone who read this... I really need a journal? :) |
The larger you start out, the longer it's going to take for you to see results. You just have to keep going.

As far as the booze goes anything a diet soda (which I hate, but when drinking I deal), also vodka and cranberry is good too.
If you do a search 20-somethings has a thread dedicated to boozing. :) I believe it's titled something like "Is this where all the drinkers hang out?" but I might be wrong. I just finally got down another half pound after about 2 weeks, so I feel your pain. Also, random note, learning to just do straight shots (no chaser, just takin' it like a woman) is never a bad skill. I taught myself that one and haven't looked back since. ;) |
Dreamer, I think your running schedule sounds like a darn impressive accomplishment. Do not discount the excellent things that is doing for your body & health, even if all those results aren't exactly visible to you yet. It will come; you will be surprised! It sounds to me like you are working hard, so try to give yourself a break & just stay steady at it. My 2 cents!

And I understand where you're coming from. When I first started losing weight, I went on a CRAZY detox program for 9 days and saw NO RESULTS! I was SO upset that I deprived myself from all this yummy goodness just to stay overweight! Are you weight training? Do you have a bike? Switch up the exercise a little bit, maybe that will help you lose more weight. :) |

I almost never drink unless its THAT much of a special occasion. Drinking isn't TASTY like cheeseburgers to me, drinking is something people do just for the **** of it (at least to me), for fun in social settings. Is grain-derived ethanol THAT yummy to anyone? Because seriously, to me it has a bitter taste and an alkaline flavor usually indicates to the body toxicity (by nature and evolution of tastebuds). The only time I think its good is when you can't taste the alcohol in a cocktail. Even then, I'd much rather have 100% juice. |

I def understand the drinking in social settings and how it can get frustrating. I too have limited the amount I am drinking and the number of times a week but without a doubt at least once a week something comes up.
I am not sure but I think wine might be the best drink for dieters? Either that or a clear liqour-like vodka. Def use a diet soda to mix. Or just take shots--haha-just kidding!! |
I haven't gotten drunk since St. Patty's Day and I rarely drink now at all...
I definitely miss it... I avoid going to parties where I see a ton of drunk people, because then I will want to join in the good times and get drunk, too - we all know life is much more entertaining while intoxicated! ;) I wish alcohol didn't impede weight loss so much. |
working in china as an intern, and living with my mom here definitely keeps me away from the alcohol..which is good for my weight loss. lol.
oh man, i miss doing soco lime shots with my girls in spain. *sigh* |
