Default Good food or Bad food?

You know, I went out with my husband for lunch today and as I was perusing the menu I got to thinking, Are there a lot of foods that look like they should be lo-cal and healthier but in fact are just as bad as all the other crap out there? For example, I ordered a grilled chicken wrap and later when I looked it up on Fitday it was almost 600 calories! So...are there any other decietfully healthy-looking foods out there that I should steer clear of?

600 isn't bad at all for going out food. I would say that is pretty great! I would think most going out food are in the higher hundreds if not over...

Yeah, I know it's not THAT bad but it was after I had told them to hold the dressing and take out the bacon and salsa and extra layer of cheese, so basically I was down to chicken, tortilla, lettuce and a little bit of cheese and it was still that much. I think I kinda annoyed the server too for being so complicated, but I just didn't want all of the extra stuff.

I know how you feel. It is really hard to find things that are worth it at a restaurant. I always feel like a crazy person modifying everything. I used to be a server so I understand what it's like. As long as you are polite about it, they should have no problem. So many people have dietary restrictions and preferences now anyway. Sauce on the side is a classic for me!

another thing that is deceitful with calories is some salads at restaurants. You think, "Oh! Lettuce! it must be good for me!" Not the case at all if you aren't careful- the restaurants use full fat dressing, and full fat cheese, croutons that are covered in butter before they are cooked (if they are homemade) and then there is bacon, and eggs, and sometimes the meet isn't always grilled. Dressing on the side, asking for low fat dressing, and getting grilled chicken is a great start, but it is still surprisingly high in calories.

I remember being shocked when I got on the Chick-fil-A website and looked at the salads- the grilled chicken salad was still the same amount of WW points as the chicken sandwich- which is fried and then on a white bun with butter!

Still, eating out is a part of life. Don't overdo it, eat well the rest of the day, and maybe work out a bit more. Then you should be just fine. Life is too short to sit at home eating carrot sticks ALL the time.
