Ovulation = Appetite increase/Weight gain?

Hi all, please bear with me if this has been asked before :)

I'm in my 2nd week of my cycle (nearing ovulation time). I gained 2 lb overnight this morning, and my appetite has gone nuts today!

Does this happen to anybody else? Am I right in thinking that there might be a correlation?

I'm tracking my weight daily... it would be interesting to see if my weight loss pattern corresponds to my monthly cycle.

Thanks for your input!!

your ovulating or pms ing? some people don't do well with weighing in the morning. you get bloated from laying all night. that ciould be it too.

Funny I should see this post...

My last period started on 2/10/07 and was gone by the evening of 2/16/07. I know I am nearing, or am in, PMS mode. I am not crampy, but I was a bit cranky yesterday and I have been bloated since Monday.

I. AM. STARVING!!!!

I ate 2 veggie quiche cups for breakfast at 9:30, I had a quarter cup of hummus and celery at noon, I just had lunch at 2:30 and consumed 2 cups of steamed broccoli and a piece of grilled chicken, and I am so hungry right now. I am not usually this ravenous, so I think it must be my period.

I am going to go have some turkey and another cup of coffee and drink more H20 (I am already at 64 ounces for the day) and I know I will eat another snack as soon as I get home at 5:15 or so. Then, I will be ready for dinner at 7 and ready for snack/dessert at 8:30. I won't binge on crap (I have nothing non South Beachy in the house) but I may eat more than normal today. Oh well; it happens.

So to finally answer your question, YES. :D

HotDoc, nope, definitely ovulating… period finished a short while ago. That’s a really good point about being bloated first thing in the morning. I definitely feel heavier in the stomach some mornings. I’ll take that on board… thank you!

JaimePhan, sounds you’re doing a really excellent job of dealing with those munchies. All the food you’ve eaten sounds really healthy to me. I know how it is… during the week before my period I can’t stop eating either, and I get crazy salt cravings, it’s ridiculous!

Oooooooooo, I have the best snack for the salty cravings. I like to take some turkey pepperoni and microwave it until they are crispy and then spread some light laughing cow on them. DEFINITELY great for chip-like cravings. I eat the whole wedge of cheese, but only 5 or 6 pepperoni. If you were to eat the full serving size of the pepperoni (15 slices) and the whole cheese wedge, this would be the nutritional info:
115 cals
6.5 grams of fat
1 carb

The way I eat them with just 5 pepperoni slices and all of the cheese wedge, it is:
62 cals
3.5 grams of fat
1 carb

YUM!!!!!

Ok, that? sounds DELICIOUS!! Thanks! gotta go stock up on some pepperoni! (I also do a low carby thing, not officially on any particular plan though)

ovulation like a mini-PMS!

This is my first post on this terrific site.

I don't know if anyone's still talking about this issue, but it caught my eye. I have terrible PMS (especially when I eat too many carbs the week before).

What I've been noticing as I get older  is that my ovu cycle is almost as bad!! I bloat up, have terrible cravings and mood swings. I have yet to meet a doctor or read a book that deals with this problem. I can "gain" up to 7 pounds during this cycle, get real depressed about it, then gain 5 more during PMS. :headache:

I just wondered what experience other women have with this?

Thanks!
