hello 20-somethings!
hey all,
my name is john and im new here. just wanted to say hello. it is so weird to talk about my weight and how much i weigh. i dont think ive ever said the words "three hundred thirty nine pounds" outloud. i want it gone. i want to actually see the scale say 2XX. I havent seen that in... years. How depressing. I am sitting here in my apartment feeling nervous about hitting the 'post' button because my weight is such a terrible thing in my mind. In the real world people make fun of you or look at you like you are lazy or a slob or gross. Maybe i can find some comfort here instead of with food. I cant even talk about my weight with my girlfriend. (she is one of those lucky ones... you know... 100lbs and eats what she wants) :?: how did she get so lucky?? I am greatful i found this place tho and i will try, as all of you are, to hit my goal. nice to meet all of you and i hope to talk with each of you soon. Hitting this button is step 1 in my journey... wish me luck! john |
Welcome John to 3FC! It's great you decided to join and post -- having a network for support & advice makes weight-loss a heck of a lot easier.
Look forward to your future posts here. |
Hi John! Welcome to the board!! You'll find TONS of great advice/support here.
|
:welcome2: John! I haven't posted much lately but I'm always lurking around... looking forward to hearing from you.
|
Hey! Welcome. :)
This is one place where you won't be judged for your weight and trying to lose weight......because we are all in the same boat and are supportive of one another (and sometimes that means we kick each other's butts to get in gear :)). |
:welcome3: I have found this site to be an amazing help in coping with weight loss. I know I have been much more successful since I started using the site rather then trying without any support. I think it is something about the anonymous nature of the site that allows me to express how I truly feel about my weight loss and admit things that I can’t to other people.
GOOD LUCK!!! |
Welcome John! :D We are all here for you. I am the moderator here at 20-somethings... if you have any questions feel free to messege me.
Good luck in your journey! Come in an join the Febuary Challenge if you haven't already. |
whats the febuary challenge? havent heard anything about it.
|
 hi John! :welcome: :welcome:
at the top you will see a "sticky" thread called somethign to the effect of "we love exercise feb challenge." That's what the ladies above are referring to. Looking forward to getting to know you! We're all in the same boat here, like someone said... and this place is laid back and supportive, so jump right in :) lastly, i wanted to show some solidarity... my SO is one of the lucky 100-pounders as well, and boy is it frustrating.!!! Take care! |
:welcome3: John!:)
|
I'm glad you joined. Just remember any bit of exercise is better than nthing at all. Walking is GREAT.
|
Hi, John! :welcome3: and :goodluck:
You will find I am excessive with smileys at times  You're going to love it here, I know I do! The challenge is where we say how many minutes, miles etc. we are going to do for this month. It's just a nice way to put it out there where people can keep track of your progress and make sure you're staying on track. I hope you enjoy the board, and your weight loss! :carrot: |
welcome John! So what is your plan for weightloss (food/exercise wise?). Lots of us have found its helpful to have food or exercise goals, not just pound goals.
|
as far as exercise goes i think it is reasonable to do something for 30 minutes 5 times a week. i dont think that will be hard for me to jump in and do. the food part will definately be the tough one. i dont think i can go cold turkey on my old food habits. i guess i can start by just simply cutting back and making different choices. the fast food junk will have to be the first to go.
|
That sounds great. Another thing you can do is just track everything you eat and go normal for a week. Once you see your calorie intake and portion sizes, you'll know what needs to change and be able to do that in the following weeks. Definitely start slow if you have lots of habits, you'll be less likely to stray. Just remember to get those fruits and veggies in and if you really want the fast food (I can't completely quit that stuff just yet haha) then keep it small, maybe once a month. Eventually you'll just stop wanting it and it won't even seem edible to you anymore.
