New to this and looking for a BOOST!

Hi everyone! I'm new to all this, so please bear with me. I'm a 28 yr old stay at home mother of 2, looking for some support and some friends that actually know what its like to be over-weight. Before I got pregnant with my daughter, I was fairly healthy and active. I gained 65 lbs with her and couldn't seem to get the weight off. Now 5 yrs later, and closely bumping that 300 mark I am a little concerned for my health and my family. They love me the way that I am but unfortuneatly, sometimes I hate what I see in the mirror. I have decided it is time to get motivated and look for some REAL friends that know what I'm going through. I'm petrified of going to weekly meetings by myself and have no motivation to do so. I also need help as far as finding foods that not only taste good (and that my husband will eat)and that help me feel fuller longer. I'm a habitual bored eater. I eat when I'm bored, I eat when I'm happy and I definitely eat when I'm depressed. Is there anyone who wants to give this a go with me?

:welcome2:

You've come to the right place. Everyone here is really wonderful and supportive. What type of plan are you following? I'm a calorie counter and I use fitday.com everyday to plan my meals out in advance. It has worked out very well for me. If you are looking for menu suggestion then you could look at some of the daily planning theards posted around here. We post one in the 20-somethings, there is also one posted in the support section. If you are following a specific program then you might check those boards too.

Good luck!

Welcome Jodie!

Believe me, you'll find plenty of other people here who eat when they're bored or depressed  Seems to go with the territory! The key is to find other things to do... Things to distract yourself from your emotional eating habits. Lots of discussion about that around here.

Heck, there's lots of discussion about EVERYTHING here. I'm sure you'll find lots of helpful stuff. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

Hope to see you around.

Your eating habits sound like mine, I'm definitely a bored eater. *sigh* I'm always up for giving/getting some support. What did you have in mind?

Same here.

What I did at first was get rid of all of the snacks from where I snack the most, at the computer. Now, I've decided to detox myself from as much sugar as possible so I'm avoiding sugary snacks. I used to live on chocolate, caramel popcorn, etc so its hard.

Welcome Jodie!

Ahh! I know exactly what you mean sexybrokechick!! I was eating a calorie reduced diet but sooo much of what I was eating was coming from cookies or that sorta thing. Frustrating! But I've gone the whole day without even craving a sweet food, it seems small now, but everything starts off small. I just have to keep going at it. :) good luck to you!

Hey Jodie, Welcome to 3FC , if you ever need a friend i'm here :)

I am right there with you. I am a stay at home mom with a 3 yo and a 5 mo old. My prepregnancy weight was 233. With both children. With my daughter, the oldest, I was able to loss all of my pregancy weight (50lbs) within 6 months. When I delivered my son I was 264, and he weighed 8lbs. I just can't seem to lose any weight with this one. I started keeping track of my food intake on fitday.com last week and I really like it! It is nice to see what I am eating and where the calories are coming from. I tend to be a night snacker and usually sweet stuff! I have always been "the big girl" but I didn't realize it until I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw the rolls on my back. EEEWWW! I don't mind the big butt, it is the belly that makes me feel so awful. Anywho, GOOD LUCK!!

WOW!! Thank You

]I want to thank everyone who has showed so much support in such a little bit of time. I am very grateful for all the feedback and the words of encouragement. It has been difficult for me to get started with exercise and right eating. Before my husband I never had the kind of positive support that I needed to get going. I just convinced myself that I was happy being big. But , then I realized I was just kidding myself. I never thought of myself as fat, until one day my daughter said mommy you have a fig, bat belly(big fat belly) That even though she was just 3, kids always tell you how it is. Anyway, thank you for all the support so far, maybe I'll actually get motivated to get started and keep it up!

I really hope you do! Try coming on here more often, it's so motivating to me (and soooo many others!) :)
