I feel so tired and hungry, does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi everyone,
I just started back on a healthy eating plan, after a year of non healthy eating. (I dislike using the word 'diet')
This is my almost 2nd complete day, and I'm finding it's very different this time around. I'm feeling sick at my stomach, headache and very lethargic to the point of falling asleep everytime I sit down.
I'm wondering what is going on, I used to be able to diet, lose weight and feel awesome.
I kind of think maybe I'm having some kind of carb and sugar withdrawls symtoms.
Has anyone else experienced this when they first started back on a good healthy eating plan after a long hiatus?

Yes, I experienced withdrawal from both carbs/complex sugars and caffiene. But be sure that you are getting ENOUGH calories every day too - you could be tired because you aren't eating enough.

Based on what you indicate in your blog, it does not look like you are eating enough calories or fiber or getting a good balance of nutrients.
Are you following a specific plan? Remember that food is fuel for your body and your mind. You need to eat enough to operate at maximum efficiency.

Yes, I was *exhausted* on my 2nd day of my chosen eating plan. What worked for me was tons of water, and some form of exercise, even walking 20 minutes a day helps! It seemed like the withdrawal from carbs & caffeine was specially rough this time around, but stick to it, and you'll get your energy back!

I'm not following any specific plan. What I'm basically doing is, cutting out diet soda, processed food, breads and a lot of sugar.
I mesh of several diets I've tried over the past. Maybe I should count my calories. I thought I could do it without counting.
I just had a teaspoon of peanut butter and half a banana and I feel so much better right now.

Just curious, have all of you given up caffeine? I drink a cup of coffee a day with 2 tbsp. of coffee creamer in it. I've cut out all my diet drinks and sugary iced tea. Thank you all for your tips and advice. I'm new around here but I'm not new to trying to lose weight. I've yo-yo'ed for almost my adult life. Thanks again to you all for taking time to respond.

I've cut out the MAJORITY of caffeine in mine, but I'll have some as a treat sometimes, but not as a morning thing, and I stopped nursing the coffeepot at the office.. Soda is completely gone except sometimes I'll steal a sip from my husband who is a Pepsi addict.
When I used to have a large coffee from Dunkin' Donuts everyday, I was getting LITERALLY sick and tired every day.. Took me a while to narrow it down to the coffee! (even the doctor couldn't relate the two when I said I felt tired all the time.. but after I stopped drinking it.. MIRACULOUS recovery!)
I'll still have a latte once in a while, or a cup of tea, but I don't really get a desire for caffeine anymore.. HATE soda lately - feels good!

I am keeping my caffeine - hasn't caused my losses to stall in the slightest. Coffee in moderation actually has some moderate health benefits. I did train myself to drink my coffee black, though, to eliminate extra calories, so I can drink several cups a day without worrying about it.

get a juicer. great way to add fruits and veggies to your diet, with natural sugars. I got one, and i am not hungry at all.

I very very rarely post here (prefer to lurk), but I did a rough estimate of your day that started with the cup of oatmeal and orange juice, and got 750 calories. That's dangerously low and would be the reason behind your lethargy. Depending on your current weight you should be eating probably twice that in a day.
It would benefit you to add some healthy fats, a lot more vegetables, and whole grains.
