Default Are our midwest posters OK?

That ice storm is awful! So much for global warming in your area.

Please be safe and don't go out unless it is absolutely necessary.

I guess work is absolutely necessary I'm totally leaving early today so I don't have to drive in the dark. Hope the roads are better by then!

Thanks for thinking of us.

It's my day off luckily and I still have power so I am grateful. Where my relatives live it is worse with much more ice. My son's college canceled classes today. We have already had so much snow this winter. I'm already longing for spring.

Thank you so much for the thoughts! It's hanging on to 33 as of 1:00 p.m....getting to work was fine, but I know it's going to be beastly when I get done ( 8:00 ). At least I only live 2 miles away...

We didn't get anything here. It was a beautiful day- sunny and the temps were in the mid-twenties. Nothing to complain about.

How sweet of you to think of us.

It hasn't been too bad here in St Louis. Just some freezing rain over night. Areas west of here got it much worse. Should be clearing up though.

We lost our power early this morning when a tree fell on our electric, phone AND cable lines! It got very, very cold in here but we were very fortunate that the power company came about 4 1/2 hours later and replaced our line, followed a few hours by the cable man. We didn't realize it until later but when the power line came down, it burned our house from the second floor all the way to the ground along the shingles, it burned a place on the ground. The Good Lord was watching over us for sure! Tonight we are still losing trees as it's still coming down lightly as ice pellets. We have a tremendous mess to clean up, trees all over our yard, but we are safe.

Tea Time - so glad you are ok! We will continue to keep those in our area in prayer! So glad that the damage to your home was minimal - that was a blessing for sure!!!

My mom and sister had a line down on their acreage. Had to move some livestock and lost power but it's back on now. My mom has a woodburner that keeps her house warmer than mine. My son's college is canceled again tomorrow. He's not complaining though.

My prayers are still going up for that entire section of the country.

I just have to add my prayers for everyone out in that section of the country. I have family in Kansas and Nebraska and I just have to say that the people of the midwest... in general, of course... are some of the hardiest people around. They take care of each other and you don't hear much complaining about their situations! Love them!

Grrr, we don't have power and we might not for another 2 weeks. I went from excitement over having a snow day, to frustration over the lack of power and running water, and now to sadness that we might not have power until after Christmas. We're living in my husband's office right now because all the hotels in the area are booked. I'm trying to be positive about it, like I am genuinely excited to have a warm place to go but it's hard to be living out of a suitcase, especially when you have two kids under 2.

And my weight loss efforts are pretty much out the window right now, since we're eating out all the time. And things were going so well!

OK, no more moping for me. We're all safe and healthy, and that's the important thing!

ETA: I just read the pp's post. There goes your theory about midwesterners not whining!
