Hi all ~
Just thought I'd share this quick story as I'm sure many of you have a family member who does these kinds of things to you.....
For the past several years every time my brother would see me he would make comments about my weight, asking me if I was eating healthy, if I was exercising at all, etc. I truly believe he was trying to help and not really trying to hurt my feelings but it did nonetheless.
He's a smoker. So finally I started asking him every time I saw him if he had cut down on his smoking, how many cigarettes a day was he smoking, etc.
One day I was really cranky so I came right out and said that he had no right to criticize my weight as unhealthy as long as he was sucking on a cancer stick. (Our mother is currently dying from cancer). So he says to me "When you lose 50 lbs. I'll quit smoking." hmmmmm
Well... he's scared now cuz when I just saw him at Thanksgiving and informed him I am only 15 pounds away from reaching 50 I also reminded him of his remark. We "reshook" on the deal and he says he'll stick to it so we'll see. Wouldn't that be a great added benefit to my weight loss if it gets my brother to stop smoking, too?
