Default Does Torrid run small?

Although I am not "plus size", everytime I walk by Torrid, I think the clothes are adorable! The smallest they carry is the equivalent to the 10-12, I'm a 6-8. Are their clothes pretty true to size or do they run small/large? I'm specifically talking about the tops. Not button-downs or anything, but tunics and tanks and stuff like that.

The clothes actually run large. I wear the smallest size at Torrid, a 12, but I wear a 16 in most other American Clothing stores...

Why wouldn't you try them on for yourself to see? If you are in the store that is.

Oh because I never actually been in the store, but I was browsing the website earlier and saw a bunch of cute stuff!

With the tops are actually a size smaller that the number that's on them. For example a 2 is really a 1x, not a 2x like you'd think. Other than that you can check the size chart- http://community.torrid.com/customer...size_chart.asp

I was only in a store one time and tried a few things on, and it seemed to me the things I tried on were running small. I just remember thinking it was strange that in a plus-sized store I was having trouble finding clothes that fit at the size I thought I was. In fact, I went to Lane Bryant right after and had no trouble with the sizes there, and even found clothes in a smaller size than I tried on at Torrid.

Torrid to me does run small as some of there pants are tight in my hips and huge in my waist and there shirts seem to run a size smaller than they say. You have to definetly try on their stuff before buying it.

When I was at my HW I loved to shop at Torrid! I agree with Casandra, to me they ran larger then true to size.

FYI, they are owned by the same company that owns Hot Topic. You may be able to find similar styles at Hot Topic in smaller sizes.

That is actually part of my goal!

Once I can no longer fit in the Torrid small size, I'll slip perfectly into a Large at Hot Topic.

Yes, in my experience they run small and aren't cut in a way I like for the most part.

My daughter is a small size 8/10 and some of Torrid's smallest sizes are too small for her or just fit irregularly (she's 5'7", so she's a teen who is woman-sized).

There stuff does run small, I think. If I'm not mistaken there is a plus size, and also something called Junior Plus Size. Perhaps they run the Junior Plus Size. But it seems their clothes don't fit me properly, they are always a tad bit tight.

I find Torrid runs really wide and SHORT. Their tops are so short!

Yeah Torrid is a different cut, for a lot of people.

For me they are a staple and I could not live without it, Lane Bryant jeans do not fit me well, but I do know that their stuff shrinks and I do know someone who is a 10 and buys their tops that are size 0, which is 10/12. Go for it!! They have the cutest stuff!!

I guess I will have to pop in and see for myself! I can't imagine some of the fitted items would fit me too well, but things like trapeez tanks and other non-form fitting things may work. Also, since I'm petite at barely 5'2", I have been wearing long tunics as mini-dresses......so that may work out well too! Thanks for the comments everyone!

As mentioned by others, try Hot Topic - it's run by the same company and sells "normal" sizes.

Happy shopping!
