My name is Trish and I am new here. I've been wanting to do SBD, but I was waiting until after the holidays. However, I have decided that I should go ahead and jump in and start it tomorrow even though I know I will be eating OP on Turkey day. Family coming in Wednesday and will be here until Sunday morning. I thought I could take a few days to get used to the plan in order to learn what to do and then I can really get into it after. At this time we are not planning anything special for Christmas so I should not have any problems staying OP during the Christmas Holidays.
I am 64 years old and have read a lot of what some of you have said about the plan and how it works for you. I am hoping it will work good for me even at my age. May even joing On-lne SBD after Thanksgiving week end is over. The book says "lose belly fat". I sure would love to have a flat tummy once in my life before I leave this world. I've always been basically healthy but have a few things I can feel changing in my body which I would love to take care of so I can continue to be healthy.
You are wise to wade in rather than jump in with the holiday weekend upon you. There is lots of information in our FAQ section and loads of support in here so you may not have to join the official SBD site. Ease into it and post in here a lot!
Sure it's harder to lose weight as we get older (I'm 68) but it can be done. Weightloss aside, this is a very healthy lifestyle.

To the beach, pull up a towel, you will love it here. As someone who once joined the SBD online, I found I got much more info and support here. Just my opinion.
Glad you've read the book! It's the first step (and the most important, IMHO) in really getting this WOE (way of eating). Like Ruth said, wading in rather than trying to do Thanksgiving all OP, is a good idea.

I am jumping in as well, better late than never, and there is no time like the present. I have tried Atkins and just feel too limited in my choices and don't end up sticking to it. My mom did this program and was very successful!

I've been reading some of the posts on this site and I believe this to be great group to be a part of. I have already learned a lot more from reading here on this site than I did from the book. The book is great but some times I either missed things or misunderstood. Some things on this plan seems too good to be true. I've been thinking I might not have to join the on-line site, but I would if I had to.
DD and her family coming for the week end and eating out twice besides Turkey day. So will see how that goes? I have a few questions, but I'm thinking those probably should be a different post with question title. So I'll do it there.
