Default Renewed Motivation

My motivation has been waning the last couple of months. I found myself thinking more and more "I've already lost so much, I'm just going to sit at this weight for a while and take a rest." Needless to say it's discouraging not losing much weight. So, yesterday I sat myself down and said "Self, you need to find some new motivation. What used to do it just isn't anymore." After that conversation I called my mom and issued a challenge. She has 35 lbs she'd like to lose. So, we made a bet. The first to reach 35 lbs lost wins. Wins what, you may ask? The "loser" has to cook 2 healthy meals per week for a month for the winner's family. Entire meals, complete with one healthy dessert per week.

This is great motivation for me. Although I can cook, I don't like it. I only do it for my family because... they're my family. (Brilliant logic, huh?) The thought of losing has been motivation enough to pass up cookies, a hamburger and a coke. Woohoo!

Whatever it takes, right?

Thumbs up Dynamite Creative Thinking

Gale - That's really creative thinking. Thanks for reminding me that getting stuck is just a challenge to think of a new strategy.

Thumbs up

I think that sounds like a great idea! I am not losing weight with any one else although I have made a commitment with myself that I will share here and listen to others ---for inspiration, ideas and support.

I weighed 287 lbs in Feb 2004 and over a year or so got down to 260 lbs where I stayed for another couple of years. I yo-yoed 10 lbs but then this summer as another birthday rolled by I decided it was time that I quit "dabbling" at losing weight and really "do it".

I have lost another 15 lbs since September 1st. My goal weight is 125 lbs.
However, I "celebrated" my recent weight of 245 lbs by dressing up really nice and really allowing myself to enjoy this recent weight lose. I reminded myself that I haven't weighed 245 lbs since 1995!!!

My motivation is having monthly goals--like I want to weigh 243 by Nov 1st and then having my pictures taken again (my first photos on my blog) at the "First 25 lbs", "Second 25 lbs" etc.

Good luck-you can do it!

Gale,
That's wonderful! You've done so good, already, and this will keep both you and your mom accountable! Being accountable is so important for me. Whenever I'm not accountable, I don't do well at all! You're one smart cookie...uh....carrot?!

Default Hey can I get in on this?

I'd love to have someone come cook for me!
I hate the shopping, the cooking and the cleaning. I hate the "what's this?", "I don't like this" that I hear from my kids.
My personal belief is "why have cookbooks when there are menus?"

Good luck on your bet. I'm sure you can do it!
