Default Sweet Potatoes

I really love Potatoes but have removed them from my diet as I am only eating whole grains. I really love Sweet Potatoes though but wanted to know what there nutrient value is. They are carbs but the bad kind, are they too highn in natural sugar, what about fiber content and fat content?

If anyone can answer this question I would appreciate it

Thanks

Personally, I don't think it's necessary to eliminate sweet potatoes from your diet. Here's the 3FC nutrition info on them:

Hey,
Some people may disagree with me, but I think all veggies and fruits are good for you, of course there are a few that should be eaten in moderation( potatoes, corn, grapes, watermelon , avocado), but not avoided. I had sweet potato last night, with some fat free black refried beans(home made), and 1 tbs of hummus. I don't eat red meat, or poultry so my Carbs are usually higher than my protien, but I am still loosing weight. I don't plan to ever stop eating sweet potatoes, yummy.

Mmmm... baked sweet potatoes are delicious! It's not the sweet potato that is gonna get you in trouble, its all the marshmallows and brown sugar and butter that your grandma dumps on them at Thanksgiving that will do you in...

I eat one almost every day. I top it with ground flaxseed and cinnamon. My nutritionist didn't tell me to quit either. And I probably won't, until I quit losing weight.

I like yourself upto a few months ago did not know about flaxseed. Here is a web site that I think will answer a few of your questions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaxseed

I think it does not have a strong flavour if anything a slightly nutty taste to it. I eat it every day I put it in things like cereals, porridge, oatbran and yoghurt are just a few ways that I have used it. You can add it to soups, lasagne and casseroles without changing the flavour of the dish.

I hope this has helped.

I love sweet potatoes. My baby and I always split a small one at least every other day. It really helps my cravings if I feel like I want a piece of cake or something. It's sweet, but nutritious.

Definitely LOVE sweet potatoes! They're filling, delicious with little or NO toppings, low cal, FULL of vitamins, and gorgeous on the plate! It's very important to me that my food looks as good as it tastes. It's funny you should ask because I have our sweet potatoes baking in the oven at this very moment to go along with pork tenderloin and steamed Asian blend veggies for dinner. Can't wait!

PS...THANKS Leeda for the World's Healthiest Foods website!!! I'm going to spend a lot of time reading over on that one!!!
