Default Insert Scream <here>!!!!

I just want to say.......I really really really hate Redlands Police!

I was on my way to the DMV to pick up my registration stickers and got pulled over. I had actually paid the registration fees 2 days ago but did not get the stickers because my registration was suspended (I had a lapse in my auto insurence - i know not very responsible but things happen when you are unemployed) So i called DMV headquarters in Sacramento like i was instructed, took care of the problem, but they said it would take 48 hours to show in the computers. Ok, so i wait the 48 hours (and did not drive) then I head out to the DMV today to pick up the stickers - I have the reciept on my passenger seat and everything - what happens???? I get pulled over I show the guy my receipt - tell him Im on the way RIGHT NOW to pick up the stickers but he tickets me anyway. AAAAHHHGGGGGGGGG!

I though only highway patrol gave tickets on the freeway????? This guy was a police officer who gave me a ticket on the freeway - he was not highway partol. Butthead!

Sounds like you have a good case for contesting it, or at least getting the fee reduced. The procedures differ by state, but typically involve writing a letter to the judge or showing up for traffic court.

huh that's weird and just sounds like the cop was trying to be tough. I'm sure you could contest it and probably get it dismissed!

This probably sounds tacky, but I can't believe he ticketed you looking the way you do! Maybe it was his (very) stupid way of getting your number.

Star - funny you said this cause I have gotten out of every ticket i have been pulled over for (be very polite, chipper, and smile pretty!)

Im not worried about the fee - it's actually a $10 fix it ticket - the DMVworker signed off on it not even 20 minutes later (she could not believe he gave me the ticket even though i showed him proof i had JUST paid the registration 2 days ago) - all i have to do is mail in the payment. Im not going to fight it - too much work for 10 bucks. The cop was just a butthead.

i have to laugh it off at what an uptight guy this cop must be and feel sorry for his wife/family

I'd fight it on principle alone! What a jerk!

Even if I did fight it, I would probably lose - because it showed suspended in his computer - but not in the DMV's a few minutes later

Hmmm - if I am not working on the day given for court I might fight it. But if I have a job by then - i wont ask for a day off that early in the job for a $10 ticket.

You will get out of it. Some places, the cops either try to meet a quota or just want to be buttheads. I was given a ticket for an inspection sticker once. The cop informed me that I LEGALLY had until the end of the month, and that once I GOT the sticker, I just send in my proof with the ticket and the ticket would be dropped. Sooooo okkkk, WHY are you giving me the ticket then? Because he was meeting a quota, because he could, and partly because they think it will push you into getting the sticker and make sure you don't forget to. In your case, you'd ALREADY taken care of this and had the proof, so my guess is on A....he was being a butthead.
