I just reread ennay's post about "how do you get them to take one bite?" and I have a funny story.

My kids will almost always try foods but my DH brought a box of figs home and my kids both turned up their nose at trying a fig. I go over to the box (thinking I am going to model for them) and say "look they are figs...they are sweet and delicious" I take a bite and then I have to spit it in the garbage. I really don't like figs very much.

So we had to send the figs back. Noone would eat them, not even me.

oh I love figs...but I am the only one in the house who does. ds (10 months) will eat anything, he already has a wider variety of foods he will eat than dd (3 1/2) His favorites are carrots, zucchini, grapes, and black beans.

I think some kids are just wired that way. Neither of my kids are picky eaters but my 9 year old son wouldn't wear shorts or go in a swing until he was 3 years old. Some tactile sensitivity. He is also super sensitive to smell.

She almost did something resembling eating tonight. Half a piece of cheese, about 4 slices of mandarin oranges. Also no tantrums. I am overjoyed.

She eats the day care food. I think they must coat everything with butter and toddler-spices. Ok, I know they don't, but they must do something magical.

She does well with fruit, and yeah, raisins too. I need to remember that.

Thanks everybody for your ideas. We do try a lot of them, and she does continue to grow and function properly so something must be happening right.
