This morning I put on some capris and a shirt that I bought on my major shopping spree in Dallas in late March. The capris, though not awfully loose in the waist, are otherwise waaaay too baggy. I feel the wind whistling thru. The top, one of the stretchy type, I actually feel better in than when I bought it. Not quite as form fitting now. And I haven't lost that much weight since March.
Lydia I was always a pear. My bottom half got smaller, but my body was always the same shape. But when I gained back weight this time it was different. Oh, my butt still could use some help, but the thighs are not as bad, but my abdomen - eek! Hence the capris above. I'd donate them right now if it were just the legs, but I know I can't wear a smaller size in the waist yet. Sigh. They'll get donated as soon as it's no longer warm enough to wear them. I WILL NOT be this size when the warm weather comes around again.

I love What Not to Wear. We've watched it for years. I think I do a good job with the shopping and I pay attention to fit, but the real bonus of watching the show is that not only do *I* have a better sense of what to look for in my clothes, but my boyfriend has also acquired an expertise in the subject I'll try on several blazers/dresses/pants and pop out of the dressing room with them on, and he'll hem and haw and consider the fit and whether tailoring will be in order and make judgments about versatility, style and flattering-ness. It's kinda handy, really, for when your own eyes deceive you.
Susan, I think this is a lesson that I learned dressing myself during the Years of Fat--DON'T BUY THINGS WITHOUT TRYING THEM ON!!!! Just because something might be the right size does not mean that it will be flattering!!! I wasn't one of those fat people who wore sweatshirts and sweat pants. I always put in an effort to try and disguise what was going on. Admittedly, this was slightly easier for me than for some because my biggest size was a 14/XL, so I could always shop at Banana Republic or J Crew or wherever.
Meg, count me in for what not to wear! I love that show, and always thought it was too bad you can't really nominate yourself. I've learned a lot but I can't get over the barrier of just being too lazy to dress nicely. I have nice clothes, but 90% of the time I end up in jeans and a t-shirt. I own one pair of jeans that fits and I wear them at least three times a week!
Baffled, that's great about your BF. If I come out in two outfits and ask my fiance which looks better he just says "I don't know, you have to ask a girl about this kind of stuff."
You all know I have a problem finding clothes small enough to fit. Several years ago, before I was on the meds that contributed to my weight gain, I needed a sweatshirt. I went to the local sporting goods store and they didn't carry anything near what would fit - although girls sizes fit my body, they're 3 inches too short in the arms.
I got so pissed off that I ended up buying a men's XL sweatshirt and rolling the sleeves way up. It fit like a big, baggy balloon and came mid way down my thighs. I loved that sweatshirt, but boy was it a case of "What Not to Wear".
It would be fun to be picked for WNTW, the only down side is that most of us have given away our fat clothes and don't have the bad examples that they end up throwing out.
LOL Carolyn, despite not having really huge fat clothes, I still have plenty of bad examples to throw out! I have an entire drawer of shirts that I never wear because they are so bad.

I am the big t-shirt queen I have plenty of wntw - proof is I have a group of friends I see fairly often but I wear my baggy clothes so much they just last week noticed I lost weight
I've got rid of them now, but the clothes I used to wear as a young teenager were IMHO a perfect example of what NOT to wear, whether overweight or not. Oi. Just remembering them hurt. Sleeveless shirts with knitted patterns on them... 'Comfort-cut' trousers that made your *** look huge and your legs not big enough to compensate, instead of hiding that sorry ***... Materials that seemed out of a moquette samples catalog... That's what I got for being too young to say "no, Mom, I can choose clothes all by myself now". And then she wondered why my teenage years crisis expressed in the shape of asking for cash to buy my clothes *myself*, even if I've made some mistakes, like everyone else, I suppose. (She finally saw the light, by the way, but by then I already was an adult.)
