Default Hello! - Lurker coming out :)

Wow - this board is amazing. I've been reading posts for a few days and I am just amazed at the support and friendliness here!

I just wanted to finally come out and say "Hi" to everyone and start getting to know ya'll. I have been doing LAWL with my Mom for about 3 weeks now and have lost 10.2 pounds. I absolutely love the plan. I never feel deprived and for the first time I don't feel like giving up on something after a few weeks. Hopefully I will stay in that frame of mind, but between the support of my awesome counselor and everyone here I know that I will be able to do it this time. I've tried everything out there it seems and I finally think I found the right combination of support and way of eating that will work for me. I enjoy going to the COD - it really helps to know that I have to remain accountable for the choices I make. I go 3 times per week - Mon; Wed; and Saturday's.

My mom seems to enjoy it as well. I am really hoping to see great results for her too, to try and get her off of some of the medication she takes for blood pressure, diabetes, etc. She has lost about 7.5 pounds so far.

I hope everyone has a great Friday! I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome TX. I have only been a member of this board for a month or so but the support here is tremendous. If you have any questions or concerns about your WL progress or lack of, someone on this board is always ready to try to help figure out what's going on!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. It has been such a busy week and a half! I had a lot of challenges last week as I was away for training with my job and tried to do the best that I could with food choices when we went out to eat. When I weighed in on Saturday I was up almost 2 pounds and was amazed that even though I thought I ordered healthy choices - that even the slightest change in salt intake and other things can tip the scale. It is kind of scary to think about it really - you have to be so conscious of everything - but I was not discouraged and didn't want to give up. Normally in the past I'd be at the "why bother" stage - you know the drill...."when I try to do this on my own, I gain it back, blah blah blah..." but that kind of attitude has kept me heavy, but the desire to undo all those years of bad eating habits is stronger than ever and I refuse to give up!!

I picked up the TakeOff on Monday evening and weighed in tonight and I'm down 1.5 pounds again and feel better all ready. I felt so sluggish and out of whack, plus it made me realize even more that I need to go for the counseling 2x per week (sometimes 3) to stay focused and motivated.

So - happy to say that I am back on track and even purchased an exercise DVD - Walk Away the Pounds - has anyone tried those? I'm recovering from spinal fusion surgery as well and have to do low impact things for awhile, so I started swimming and now bought this tape. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!!

I have quite a few of the Walk Away the Pounds (WATP) tapes and DVDs. I love them! Just the right amount of exercise for me (the one who HATES to exercise!) and I like the instructor, Leslie Sansone's personality. Not excessively bubbly but motivating just the same.

Have any of you tried Turbo Jam or the Excercise Ball? I love Turbo Jam it is very addicting once you are in the excercise mode. I think I need to get there again now that I am in the 140's and if I have any chance of getting to the 130's.
