Default hi, I'm brand new.

hi. My name is Kristina, you can call me tia. I am from the metro detroit area. I was diagnoised with PCOS and IR 2 years ago, and since then have had to change drastically my eating habits. I am not a vegan by any means, but I do watch my dairy intake. I am fairly new with the whole foods and holistic aproach, and would appreciate any and all advice! My biggest concern is the cost right now. I have heard that in oter parts of the country it is not only easy but also cost effective to eat whole and organic foods, but in my neck of the woods it's a pain to even find a grocery store that caters to the organic approach, and its a lot more expensive! so far the best store I have found is an hour drive! grrr... anyways, if anyone has any tips on saving some dough at the grocerrs i'd really appreciate that.

Hi Kristina, I also have PCOS and IR, btw! We eat almost all whole foods in our house. We didn't really notice a difference in $$ until we added in organic foods. But with the addition of whole foods, we've dropped a lot of fast food, junk foods, convenience foods, (and we also went vegetarian and and tofu and tempeh is way cheaper than meat) and that did help even out the budget. We buy in bulk when we can. Oatmeal, beans, grains, coffee, tea, etc usually come from the bulk dept. We try and buy all vegetables from farmer markets or produce stands.

Hope this helps!

Oooh - almost forgot. We get a lot of things on Amazon, too. The selection and sales vary, but if you buy in lots of 6, you can get some wicked savings!
