Default One Pound Down, Plenty More to Go - Summertime

to ~ One LB. Down and Plenty More To GO!

Old friends and New friends,

This thread is open to any and all ladies who have more than a "few" pounds to lose. We all know that if it's more than a "few" that it's gonna take sometime to get rid of it. And when you're in a certain place in your life for a while it's great to have some friends around that know exactly how you feel and know exactly what you're going through. Having support via family and friends is great and certainly a welcomed thought, but sometimes they just don't get it. We'll help encourage you through the down times, discourage you when the dieting alter ego wants to take over and then encourage you some more! Just jump in and make yourself at home. Let's try to live, love and laugh our "weigh" through this!

. . . and what does the number 227 mean to me today?

. . . both my blood sugar monitor and my scale told me that number this morning . . . the blood sugar number is a . . . the scale number is a . . . BUT, I'll bet it tells me nice things like that until my 'official weigh-in' on Wednesday when it will likely shoot right back up to 229.8 again . . . the story of my life. Oh well, it's nice to know there is a lower number out there somewhere in my future.

Nowhere to go but downward . . . Keep things moving and shaking, gang . . .

I'm talking to myself again . . .

My son and his family (from Alberta) are arriving today to spend a couple of days -- I hardly get to see them, they live so far away -- My DIL is very, very allergic to cats. She has stayed here in the past (when there were 3 cats) and it is not a pretty sight. Now that there are 6 of them, she doesn't dare try sleeping in this house. Actually going to work out quite well. The granddaughters (age 4 and 13) will stay here so I get a nice visit with them. The parents will stay at a local Motel so they will actually get a little time alone for a change. My poor cats will go nuts . . . they are definitely not used to humans that are able to move almost as fast as they can. should be a fun couple of days. Will probably be a few tears from Angelia (the youngest) because of kitten scratches (unavoidable). Becky is old enough to realize it's going to happen. Jazz is her favourite anyway, so he'll get lots of cuddling time.

So . . . I don't know how much computer time I'll get for the next couple of days . . . but I will be thinking about you, gang, and will stop in whenever I get a chance. Keep things moving and shaking and I'll see you really soon (if you come out from wherever you are hiding, that is ). . .

Hey, I hope you remember me, I haven't been on in months. Too busy, school and work and all that.

Well, I haven't lost any weight but I've been to physio so much that my blood pressure is down to 110/70, which is normal, it used to be 130/80. I've heard that there isn't the same risk in being obese when you're otherwise healthy, but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

I need to lose weight, but I'm so busy, which has got me so stressed I just don't know if now is the right time.

Hi ladies. I'm back from my surgery...I would say back from my hysterectomy, but it ended up just being surgery, no removal unfortunately. Dr. got in there and found stage 4 (most severe form) of endometreosis (had no clue I had it). My reproductive organs and atleast my bowel are "frozen"--meaning they've all stuck together because the endo is sooo severe. So my dr cleaned out what he could of the endo (not a whole lot from what I saw from the pics) and closed me up. Has referred me to a specialist (gynocoligist/oncologist) in a town about 30 miles away. Says he deals with these kinds of cases on a weekly basis and is more skilled at handling it than him...atleast he was honest about his lack of skill. I'm greatful for that.

So, I'm dealing with another surgery within the next two weeks. I'm pretty down about it, as you can imagine. You have surgery and wake up in recovery thinking you're all fixed up...no more problems...then they drop a bomb on ya like this. I can't tell you what the last few days have been like for me. But.....this too shall pass! I'm determined to come back totally healthy and happy for my family. They've put up with me like this for far too long.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Boy do I need them! And to top it all off, don't know if you all remember me talking about my sister in law woes over the last few months...she had the gall to send me two very negative emails since my surgery...i've blocker her. UGH

Linda, Congratulations on your loss! I hope it "sticks". Did you have a nice visit with the family. The sleeping situation sounded optimal. Hope it worked out as well as it sounded.

Diana, So sorry for the failed surgery. I can guess that was pretty disheartening when you woke up and was told the news. Keep your chin up, you WILL get past this and feel better when it's all said and done. That SIL is a real stinker, isn't she!

Hi Rhiannon, Glad you dropped back by. I hope the stress lessens so you can focus on your health again. Good to hear that the blood pressure is lowering.

I'm still hanging around. I've dropped my calories some lately to try to kick start my weight loss again, after having a 7 week plateau. It seems to be working, as I did lose another 2 lbs last week. After struggling with exercise since Daylight Savings Time went into effect (when was that - March ?!?!) I am finally back on track with my early morning walks.

Take care everyone!

Hi gang . . .

Of course my weight loss didn't stick . . . but after the stuff I ate while the family was here, I'm happy I held on to 0.4 of a pound of it. Most of the problem is water, I'm sure so hpefully it will go away by next week.

Oh Diana . . . What an awful shock that must have been. Wow, your attitude is absolutely great. I've got everyhting for you chickie, including my eyes . . .

Hi Rhiannon . . . Really good to see you. Just do the best you can, girl.

Hi Tammy . . . Good to see you too. Good for you with the exercise. that's always my worst area. I certainly did a lot of walking over the past couple of days -- we did a lot of touristy stuff.

Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking day going . . . see you soon.

Hi ladies. Boy, if I can ever get past being tired.....does surgery (even when they don't take anything) make you this tired??? I just can't seem to shake it. Although it could be the stress of the upcoming surgery, as well, I suppose. I did find out that my pre-surgery appointment will be July 23....2nd surgery will be July 26 (tenatively).

Good news is that I've neither gained nor lost...well, maybe lost a lb...maybe....if I'm nice to myself! lolol As much IV fluid as I got, I'm surprised I didn't gain!! I was in hospital just over 24 hours and got 3 or 4 bags that I remember. For a little while I was strung out on demerol....who knows what they did to me then! lol

Linda, are we all alone?? Guess everyone's busy. Wish I felt like doing half of the stuff I need to be doing....I'm suspecting that it'll all still be right here when I do get to feeling like tackling it.

Guess I'm going to go sleep some more.

Diana

Yes, surgery takes a lot out of you. I think you are doing well to be rid of the IV water weight so soon . . . think it took me longer to get rid of that even after my minor (i.e., no full anaesthetic) procedures. Yes, looks like we hve our own little thread right now.

Hey ladies-
Got back tonight...need to get back to water and healthy eating asap!! I indulged on yummy Mexican food 3-4 times (just can't get it here so *had* to! lol)
I think I'll wait a week before getting on the scale...it just can't be good.
But we had a great time and I am sooo tired. Had a 9.5 hour drive which with kids translated into 12 and we started at 6 (which meant up at 5:15) ANyway- time for zzzs, but wanted to check in.
I'm glad this thread isn't totally abandoned!
Diana- I'm thinking of you!
Tammy- glad you've been able to get past your plateau! Bravo for you!
Hey Linda- hope you enjoyed your visit with your family!

ttyl!
