Default Help with Lunch Meat!

I bought deli turkey today from Wawa thinking it is a reasonable choice (I know lunch meat is high in sodium, but I can't give it up). I went on my dailyplate to enter in the info and the turkey came up as 800 calories for 1 serving! I almost keeled over! Not only did that ruin my prospect of being within my calories for the day (still have yet to eat dinner) but now I wasted $6 because I won't touch the stuff again! I don't typically go to Wawa for my deli meat, just happened to be in there today and I needed some. Can anyone recommend a common brand of lunch meat that is not killer in the fat and calories department? I love roast beef, turkey, and ham occasionally. BTW, I don't live near a Trader Joe's...I notice a lot of you here shop there, but it's not an option for me. I typically go to ShopRite or Stop and Shop. Thanks!

Ummmmm, wait, back up....... 800 calories for deli turkey per serving? What's the serving size, 6 pounds? There's no way a serving of deli meat is going to be 800 calories. Are you sure you entered the info correctly?

Edit: I'm showing Wawa turkey breast as 50 calories per serving at TDP. Check your serving size again to see what you entered.

Ahh, nevermind, I see the problem. Since they are Wawa deli meats they list the serving size by the sandwich size (even though I didn't select a sandwich, just the turkey). So one serving of turkey is the amount of turkey they put on one wawa classic sized sandwich (the biggest one)...which is DEFINITELY a lote more than one serving. Whew! Scared me for a minute there!

How can a serving of turkey be 800 calories unless you were eating the whole turkey? Usually 3 slices would be anywhere from 50 to 100 calories.

I usually get the pre-sliced in the meat section. I can't remember the brand. I think it's Louis Rich or something else. It's 50 calories for 3 slices.

Aren't the pre-sliced lunchmeats and the deli meats high in sodium?
