I got in 73 minutes this morning and will get in another 20 minutes later today! Everyone else.. front and center!

Wouldn't that be great if we could exercise in our sleep.. sleep walking happens, so maybe sleep exercising?

Thumbs up Ready to GO!

Happy April Ladies! Linda is right, it's time to bare some skin so we better all get in gear to get ready. I actually went shopping this weekend and got 4 summer dresses which I'm VERY excited about - strapless, flowy, halter - all kinds! Now, I just gotta make sure I'm in good shape when I wear them.

I took Friday off, but yesterday DH and I went to the cherry blossom festival instead of the gym to get in our exercise. We walked for about 3 hours around the monuments and the tidal basin, so that's gotta count for something. Today is undecided as of yet - our plan was to go tonight, but I met goal for this last week so I think I might hold off on the gym till tomorrow.

So to re-evaluate - past 2 weeks have been wonderful and I finally feel as if I'm back into the swing of exercising. I look forward to making this week (...and month) productive as well.

Finally, for the journal gals - remember the BAR exam. One more month till I get the results. I've done pretty good this past month with just getting back into the office and getting situated so I haven't thought about it - but today it's been all I could think about. Guess I should focus on other things, though - I can't spend all of April fretting.

Ok, ladies, here we go again...Much Love and Hugs.

ok ladies...i am about ready to give up! i need some pep and inspiration. i was sick in bed all weekend and i feel ok now, just less energy. i am trying to get in to see my doc but it's hard to get in with her so who knows.
the last few days last week i didn't drink my water so this morning i was up a pound. i guess i can't even drink diet soda without gaining so it's strictly water for me. i do put crystal light in it, so if i still don't lose weight i guess the next step will be to drop that too. anyway i am still planning on winning the gym contest. i am going to get on the treadmill for 45 minutes at lunch, then after work i will do my 45 weights and another 30 minute cardio (probably the elliptical). be sure to send some strength my way! hope everyone else does great today!!amy

Hi Ladies - Happy Monday. I had a bit of a rough weekend. Ended up in ER last night with severe stomach cramps. I didn't get my full 90 minutes of cardio in yesterday due to being there, but I did get 73 minutes in These were writhing on the floor cramps, not just minor stuff. I got good drugs while I was there, Demoral thankyou! and have a medicataion called Protonix for my stomach and Vicodin for the pain. I have to call my regular doc and get in to see her. My gut feeling Hey ain't I funny, is that she'll probably keep me on the same medication. This has happened a few times over the past 8 years, but it hasn't been this bad since the first time it happened in 1999. This isn't my IBS, which I can deal with my stomach stuff. Not only does my stomach like to cause me pain, it refuses to get smaller.

Lwyr. I am sure you passed the Bar just fine and dandy. We have faith in your abilities so please dont't worry and get yourself an ulcer or something! I am glad you are feeling good from the exercise. It really can improve so many aspects of you life

Amy, sorry you aren't feeling well. It is another migraine? Poor thing. Take it easy and one pound isn't a bg issue. Just picture it being a glass of water. Just do the right things and your body eventually will cooperate.

Everyone else, check in please!

linda, i hate that your stomach gave you so much trouble this weekend. i was on protonix in february after a similar stomach episode. that's when i found out i am allergic to wheat. since giving it up, i haven't had any more tummy trouble. also, watch for sores in your mouth with the protonix, that's what happened to me so i am not allowed to take it anymore. i am such a picture of health.
btw-migraine is gone, now having some sort of infection or something with my thyroid gland.
i think someone (probably my dr) has put a hex on me. i think she likes to keep seeing me in her office. everytime i start to feel good, i get sick again...uuuggghhhh
anyway i will be back this evening or tomorrow morning to report on my exercise. amy

April???!!! How the heck did THAT happen???

Sorry I didn't get a chance to check in this weekend.

Linda, I hope you feel better. I hope it wasn't food poisoning. I hope it's not a food allergy either. Hope it goes away soon. feel better!! You need to put furball on the ouchy parts and let kitty magic do it's thing!

Amy, Feel better and I agree, don't fret over the one pound. The body does strange things when you are sick. Just stay the coarse and it will all work out in the end. Hey, you gotta win that contest! LOL

Lwyr, I agree with Linda....you will pass with flying colors...but still...waiting for the results has got to suck! LOL I walked alot yesterday too. I figure it does count for something....

So here is my story. Busy weekend. Shopping on Saturday. Actually a bit of retail therapy, as dh and I are in a tif....something he said that made me mad, and he hasn't said he was sorry yet. Sunday, went to www.legacy-village.com (check it out) and walked my butt off...oh ya, I had dinner at the cheesecake factory, and made sure that I didn't walk my entire butt off with a cheesecake...sigh....sorry, I just couldn't go there and not indulge. Today, I have been the spring cleaning queen! Still have more to do, just taking a break to check in. I am planning on either some tm time tonite or walking outside after I take dd to dance. It's really nice out and my daffodils bloomed over the weekend, which makes me very happy.

Here's hoping that dh sees the light and apologizes--otherwise it will be a war of wits, and we all know who has the stronger wit! (Muhahahahaha!)

Popping in to say howdy! Busy weekend with friends in Orlando, and then home yesterday to do more yardwork. These trees are 6-plus feet tall, but when you're done and you look at the massive expanse of land, and the other landscape around it that has been in place for years and years, they look like twigs. I'm posting a pic of our handiwork- this is where my weekend cardio (and strength training, because those trees are heavy!) takes place.

Here's a quick pic, and then I'll be back tonight, once I get my exercise in.

ok, I'm back. 30 minutes tonight- 8 miles on the bike. My goal for April, in addition to our 200 minute challenge, was to increase the intensity of my shorter workouts. So, the bike's resistance got cranked up a notch tonight, and I can already feel the difference in my rubbery legs. I had to work my tushie hard to keep my rpms above 85, and my mph above 17. The batteries for the display finally went, and luckily it stopped registering heart rate, resistance level and calories burned, instead of mileage or time. New batteries went into my presssscious bike once I got off, because I'm not risking having it reset. Darned thing stopped when I tested my heart rate- they had it at 129, but I know that's nowhere near right.

This week I have to make sure my 200 minutes are done by Friday night. This weekend is Easter at my in-laws, and also my nephew's first birthday party/cookout. Same deal as this past weekend- plan for best choices from what is there, like pickles over high calorie salads, have some black beans instead of baked beans, and leave the buns off of a burger. And I'm going to allocate 1000 calories of my daily intake for the events, just to make sure if there's something I absolutely HAVE to have, it won't derail me.

Off to get a load of laundry started before 24. Week 3 is underway...and it's a whole new month!

Default Monday Evening

Good evening Ladies. Great to see everyone posting!! Just checking in quickly to post that I went to the gym after work and got in my 60 mins of cardio to start off the week!

I'm making it my goal to go every night this week to the gym, so I can take the weekend (or atleast Saturday) off. DH is on call on from Sat morning to Sun morning. I want to really enjoy the day - go shopping alone, get my nails done and a facial, maybe go to the sauna at the gym - girly stuff. I'm sure I'll end up doing stuff around the house too - but it will be a nice day to myself so it'll be great if I've met goal for the week by then!

Alright chicks - I'm off to cuddle with DH in bed and read my SELF magazine. Talk to you tomorrow, Much Love.

P.S. - Linda, hope you're doing better. Thought of you today and was hoping you took the day OFF and rested up. I need my drill sargeant - no one yells quite the way you do. Feel better sweetie! HUGS.

Also, Renee - I LOVE the cheesecake factory. When I was in college in Atlanta, I used to go there literally every weekend (and then I wondered why I gained those 30 lbs in college ). Their creations are delicious - but when I got to law school and stopped making those weekly trips, I lost all that weight - hmmmm a correlation? I think there might be!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I am feeling better, wrung out but better. I am not able to get into see my regular doc but will be going in tomorrow to see the PA of another doc. I had some chicken soup today and a couple of English Muffins and it went okay. Just will be taking it easy fo a while I suspect. Kitty is enjoying me being home I think. Lots of sleeping for both of us. I was able to reschedule my tax appt for Friday afternoon.

I think this week will be a bust for me on the challenge and that rather bums me out. I'll find out when I can exercise again from the doc tomorrow and will ask if perhaps my increase in exercise could have contributed to this. I doubt it, but I am not a doctor so I want to be sure. I don't want this to happen any time again soon. I am just trying to pin point what changed that could have brought this on and the only thing I come up with is stress. Even though I don't feels tressed, the last 6 weeks have brought about tremendous changes on the work front so who knows?

I've never been to the cheesecake factory in my life but someday I want to go. Hope it was worth it Renee. If the scale doesn't copperate, you need to remember why.

Amy, sorry about your thyroid. I wonder if this place makes people fall apart? No sores from the stuff yet <knock wood>

Lwyr your daily gym plan sounds good. And your girly plan sounds even better! I think my fantasy weekend right now would be someone to come clean my house while I slept.

Jenn good exercise and pretty trees! Remember the first bite tastes the same as the 5th or the 15th.

good morning everyone! hope we all woke refreshed and feeling good (or at least better). i was going to write this last night at home but dh took the laptop to work with him and dd comp is just not as fast. i wouldn't let me load the journals or the forums, so i gave up.
last night after work i got in 45 min of cardio (20 on ellip & 25 on tm) and then did 45 minutes in the weight room. i worked my butt off!!
linda=glad you are feeling better, hopefully someone can tell you what is going on and get you fixed, i know it must be hard for you to get some rest but try anyway.
renee--if he doesn't apologize soon you could always kick him in the shins (jk) if he's like my husband he probably doesn't even know that he needs to apologize. hope you two kiss and cuddle soon.
lwry-i know you will pass the test with flying colors! and i am so jealous you get to cuddle with hubby. mine works 2nd shift and so i don't get in much cuddle time. maybe i will take a day off work to stay home and cuddle
jenn- i can't believe you own a FOREST! that is so cool, hope your fruit has a good year!
well i think i got everybody but if i missed you i am sorry, it's nothing personal. i am going to have to start taking notes from everybodies posts so i can write something back.anyway i have to get busy now, will talk again later.
my plan for today is 45 min tm at lunch and then a pilates class and maybe another 30 ellip if i have time.
have a great day!amy

Default where is everybody today???

just cuz linda is a little under the weather you think you can slack off???

linda- are you feeling better? when do you go see the dr again?

well my exercise today has been an hour and a half of cardio and an hour of pilates. it was the first time i went to that class and it was good except for we did some of the moves with a partner. that woulda been fine except we are not talking like "hold her ankles while she does situps. it was more like when the other person raises her pelvis, put your hands on her butt to help her hold the pose" or even better "when your partner arches her back put your hands on her pelvis to hold her up" ! i thought i was in some weird porno! but i survived.
welll i will check back in i hope to hear from some of you!!

Howdy gals!

Well, today was another gorgeous weather day here, tomorrow they are predicting colder temps and then SNOW! LOL So, today I took full advantage of the warmth and sunshine and continued on my cleaning quest. I did walk a bit on the tm this morning. Just 30 min though. Not so good for the challenge this week...200-30= 170 to go. I just needed the time to get everything done today. I found out yesterday, that I will be hosting Easter brunch for my family and dh's. That amounts to about 20 people. after tackling the upstairs and the upstair bathroom, I went to the grocery store, and bought most everything I needed for the meal. I also stopped in at Malleys Chocolates, because I realized that the kids only had one more day before spring break, and I needed to get a bit for their baskets. Actually, I am planning on giving them $, but what is an Easter basket without a little chocolate? So I bought them a few good things. Then I went to Starbucks and got a pound of coffee for Sunday. They had the Organic Mexican Shade variety that I love...they don't always have it...so I was happy. Came home, put the groceries away, picked up ds from school (he is playing intermural basketball now) ran home, took dd and her friend to dance, stopped in at the carpet store to ask for samples (dd needs them to do a science project over the break) came home and started dinner. Grilled pork loin, roasted asparagus, and mashed potatoes (just a bit). I had intended to get the grass cut too. But ran out of time. Oh ya, did I mention I did 4 loads of laundry (kids clothes) too? LOL

Dh hasn't said he was sorry yet. But he did bring home the big ladder to clean the chandelier in the foyer and today, he cut the grass that I didn't get to...so I guess he is trying to say sorry in his own way....

Linda, I am glad you are feeling better and I am sorry to say, the cheesecake WAS worth it...it was a peice of Godiva chocolate cheesecake and it was good. I was good for my meal though. I had grilled fish tacos and didn't eat the tortilla. Plus we walked and walked.

Jenn, wow! What a grove you are going to have. Can I email you my address so you can ship me some of your citrus? LOL No, just kidding. But man, I am envious of you! And a continued excellent job on the exercise front. Also, a good plan for the parties that are coming up.

Amy, great job on the exercise too! Hope things are going better for you medically. and yes, dh didn't know what he needed to say he was sorry about. Geesh, men! LOL

Lwyr, good job getting that gym time in. Enjoy time with dh and your girly stuff too. You'll be a new woman with all the pampering and new dresses. Dh better watch out! LOL

Ok, off to make lunches for the kids for tomorrow. I am winding down on the cleaning tasks, so I hope to have more time for me tomorrow!

HI Ladies, I am a newbie here but would love to do the exercise challenge.

Today I logged 2 hours mucking out horse stalls (hard work shoveling and pushing heavy wheelbarrows) so that must count for something. I was sweatin'!!!

Normally mostly I am a power walker & hiker, so I will tally those minutes up when I walk.
