Default My measurements...strange!!!!

I'm really not sure why my measurements are so weird!!! Back in 2004 I lost a significant amount of weight. I weighed and measured myself daily. Then i got pregnant and gained weight back. I am now 20 lbs heavier but almost the same measurements. Thankfully I kept the paper from last time so I can compare Only thing I'm doing different this time is lifting weights as well as cardio . Last time I never did any weight lifting, only cardio.

April 2004:
Weight: 151 lbs
Abdomen: 36.5 inches
Waist: 30.5 inches
Hips: 41.5 inches
Thighs: 24 inches
Calves: 14 inches
Bust: 38 inches

Feb 2007:
Weight: 170.8 lbs
Abdomen: 38 inches
Waist: 31.5 inches
Hips: 40.5 inches
Thighs: 26 inches
Calves: 14 inches
Bust: 38 inches
So I'm almost 20 lbs heavier but the difference in inches is only 2 1/2 inches diffference. Is this because I'm lifting weights so my muscle weighs more? I feel MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger right now than I did back in April '04.

Working with weights will definitely improve measurements, even with no weight loss! And you will feel better also, as you've found. But I doubt it is all muscle weight, though I don't really know. Good for you in any case!

That is ALL the strength training. You've got all of those pounds of nice compact muscle in there, rather than pounds of fat. Thus, higher weight, same measurements!

Way to go!

Well, a few things. One, your eyes may need a bit of time to catch up to your body, which is totally normal. You might also have different proportions than you had before, meaning that your clothes are fitting differently, but your overall measurements are getting smaller. You just need time to adjust, but use those GREAT measurements to motivate yourself!

That's just like me!

Here are my measurements from
October 2004: / From 2 weeks ago:
Bust: 36" / 38"
Underbust: 32" / 32"
Waist: 30.5" / 32.5"
Hips: 37" / 39"

weight: 139lbs 155-159lbs (not sure, have not weighed myself since January)

And I find it weird also that with even just a couple inches difference how different my old clothes fit. To be fair, I don't own anything that I owned back in 2004 (when it all stopped fitting I got so down I just sorted slowly changed my wardrobe over to stuff that fit), but I can't imagine they would fit better than I remember them fitting.

Hopefully some of it is muscle. Just imagine how much better your measurements will be when you get back down to your weight. How cool is that thought?

Measurements are a funny thing! BUT scales are just evil! I haven't lost any weight since August, however I have lost inches. I was really starting to get frustrated and I wish now that I had started to measure right away when I started all this, but here are my changes since Aug:
-------------AUG-------------FEB
Bust:---------44"--------------------41"
Hips:---------49"--------------------46"
Waist:--------48"--------------------44.5"
Thighs:-------27"--------------------26"

But I haven't lost a single pound! In fact I went up a couple for awhile there right after the holidays because I got so sick and then stressed, but after getting back on track I'm right back down. Just can't get past 219! And I haven't been able to move down much in pant sizes.....the pants I am wearing are getting loose, but I'm not getting into an 18reg Make any sense, No, but as long as I see those inches go down I'm happy

Now, I can squueze into some 38's, but am more comfy in a 40, UGH but my hip measurements are 55", how in the WORLD do they measure mens jeans? Thats a HUGE difference!

Well, now I'm just confused! After reading your post I had to go try on my DH jeans to see if I could fit (been discouraging before when I couldn't fit into his 40-42s last summer). He is back into 38s and they fit!!! Granted they are a bit stretched out because he has worn them, but how can I fit into them at a 46" hip if you have a 55" hip???? I know you are considerably taller, but still that's a big difference in numbers! Are you sure you are measuring right? I think you might be smaller than you think!!!!!!

Ok - we all know muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space. Compare it like a pound of bricks to a pound of feathers. To make up one pound, you'll have to have a whole lot more feathers than bricks, right?

You aer not "only 2 1/2 inches difference" - when counting inches, you count them as a whole. So you are 6.5 inches bigger all over now than in April '04. And yes, that can mean 20 pounds.

Might I suggest that you change your weight lifting routine to lifting less weight with more reps - that way you tone & strenghten without getting that "bulky muscles" look. Just a suggestion.

Maybe brand? These are cargo camo pants and levi siganture, flare leg, loosfit. Matt has a ghetto booty you could serve tea on and big thick thighs. I have absolutely NO butt and twiggy legs. My hips are nonexsistant. When I say hips measurements? I mean that band of fat that hangs into my lap

Oh, I also measure on my waist, for my wasit measurement, not the belly button, since it sits low, between my upper hip bones, and I measure my hips as the widest area on my lower half, between my upper and lower pelciv curves. I also measure under the meat apron and around my butt.
