40 Days and 40 Nights - JOIN The Lent Challenge (02/21 – 04/06)
First of all, I am not religious so you don't have to be either! The offical name for this challenge is "40 Days and 40 nights" but it is going along with Lent and the dates of Lent.
For this challenge pick something you want to go without for 40 days. Or maybe even something you want to do for 40 days. Lent is generally a fasting but that is about all I know.
This challenge starts on February 21 and ends April 6, 2007.
Depending how many people join and how busy this is, I might make new threads every week so we can chat if we want.
So lets go! List below your own 40 day and 40 night challenge!
but since Cream cheese is not technically a cheese I can still have that I think. Great Idea for this lent, today is our last day to eat those things, but I'm going to try not to overdo it !
Also for the 20 pounds down by easter this is the obvious next step so, nice one. PS love your boston terrier
We still have TWO more days! hehe
But I have a very small amount of diet coke left in the fridge, so I am not opening another bottle!
I think diet pop and processed foods are my biggest downfall. For now, I am going with no diet pop. I am trying to cut down on processed foods but I can not go without! haha
In terms of artifical sweenter, I am allowing myself 1 serving a day. Either my 0 cal starbucks sweenter or 1 package of sugar twin in tea. Do you guys think that is okay? or should I cut it out ALL together?
This might be pushing it, but I'd like to give up (for 40 days -- !!) junk food -- anything with keebler elves on it, slogans of "no one can eat just one", etc.
sotypical - nah its not alright. You should exclude sweetener all together (in theory - but I'm a coke zero addict so I shouldn't talk- but alas i know better ) and have small quantities of REAL SUGAR (*gasp*)!! Yes, your body needs sugar, and even one teaspoon of sugar which has 17 cals you can pretty much burn off when you sneeze. Plus sweetners cause bone damage, and lots of other health problems that a young lass like you shouldn't be worrying about!! don't worry about it darl, and good luck with your lenting.
shelby - i didn't start this thread but I think its safe to say "yes" I think that giving up junk food is fantastic!! If you can do it I say go for it.
okay, so I have changed mine - I am giving up ALL ARTIFICAL SWEENTER!
the hardest part, will be avoiding my coffee flavouring I just bought! haha
I have gotten better with the diet pop thing, but I still have SOME everyday!
I'm so happy and excited about this thread!!! I have been pondering what I would be giving up this year and decided that I really need to both 'give up' and 'add in' a few things to reach my goal of losing 140 lbs.
Don't laugh at my list... yes it's extensive but I really need a dramatic --drastic jumpstart!!! I believe I can do this with your support and encouragement.
Giving Up
red meat (I'll only eat fish or poultry)
sweets (No more desserts)
junk food (No more chips, popcorn, etc.)
Add In
Drink 100 oz water everyday
Walk everyday
Don't eat anything after 8 o'clock pm
Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night
I wish you all the power and strength to keep your 40 day commitments!

Reason: I needed to include 2 additional 'add ins'!
For sure Coutnie!! I am so in on this one!! Yippee!
I'm giving up...LAZINESS... This is either gunna make me or break me!
40 days and 40 nights of Slim in 6 and/or Power 90 DVDs!!!!
And one of these for every day I do it: because I'll be proud of myself in the end!
Oh and BTW,chimichanga starts today, they are a day ahead of us so to speak.
i have been trying to cut back on cereal I did good last week but this week I was back into it. I eat a bowl every night so I will give up cereal. Oh dear god this is gonna be hard. lol
I had cereal for lunch just for that reason and I mean A BIG bowl (3 cups of rice krispies) I still have room for a small snack in the afternoon if I am hungry I have already put my supper in fit day so I know what I can and cannot have for snack.
This looks like an awesome thread. I remember giving up pop for Lent one year in middle school...I think I was in 7th grade. It was HARD! But I'm gonna try and give it up again, because it actually worked back then (probably because I thought I would go to **** if I cheated..LOL). I think I'm going to do the "add in" thing as well.
Give Up
- Pop (including diet)
- Chips (Doritos are my weakness)
- Fast Food (I won't count Subway or sit-down restaurants into this though)
Adding In
- Exercise every day for 40 days (that's going to be hard!)
- At least 3 cups water
