Well, I hope all of you had a great Christmas. Mine was OK, nothing special. I hate to be bah-humbug-y, but I'm just really not all that into the holiday "season." I love the music and the lights, but the gifts leave me cold.

Shelley, I love the new bike. I'm so jealous! I'm gonna be one of the New Year's gym "bunnies" next week. I don't plan on dropping it this time, though. I just really miss my OLD gym.

Class starts next week and I still haven't decided if I want to take one or two. I'd really LIKE to take them both, but I know I'll be SOOOO busy making loans in the next few months. I just THINK of all that work and I feel overwhelmed. But I feel like I'll be letting the professor down if I sit one of the classes out (same prof both classes). Debbi, what's your take on that?

Anyway, I'll try to check in more on this thread.

Great to see you, Sherry.

Happy Birthday, Sherry! You should stop by more often!

So where is everyone else? Kind of quiet in here the past few days. Must be the holidays.

I'm back on track. The house guests are gone. Most of the wine is gone (no more temptation!) I got up and exercised this morning. I need to lose that weight I've gained since Thanksgiving--my jeans are a bit tight this morning!

Everyone have a great day!

Sherry I was just checking in to wish you a Happy Birthday and I see our friends beat me to it. I hope that you have a wonderful day and that you would find time to come and visit with us. All the best Sherry.

Allison that is good news to hear that you are back on track. I went back to the gym yesterday and I will be swimming this afternoon. I haven't been there since saturday. That is a long stretch for me.

Cheryl thanks for starting a new thread. I am sorry to hear that you didn't get an exciting gift from Santa. Christmas can be a let down for a lot of folks.

Time to get some lunch on the go. Larry is working on redoing Dez's bedroom. We are going to rewire it and drywall it. It still has plaster. It is one of the last rooms that we haven't renovated. Larry doesn't work til the 2nd so this will keep him out of trouble. I am hoping that in January he can finish the drywall and prime. If he doesn't paint til after we get back from Mexico that would be fine with me.

Have a good one everyone.

Hello

Thanks so much for the warm birthday wishes. I've had a great day so far! Debbie & her DD took me out for lunch at Logans.Debbie bought me a leather jacket and I bought a new purse and shirt with b/d money I got.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.Ours was sort of slim this year but we still had a good one I guess.

My Son Chris got married to Dayna on Nov.24th. It was a beautiful wedding. They got to spend 3 nights togther in Gatlinburg before he had to leave to go back to Washington (where he's stationed in the Navy). He flew in on Christmas Day! Him & Dayna hve gone back to WA now. They drove a UHaul back with all their things.Dayna will fly back here on the 8th.Chris will then leave for Hawaii for 6 weeks of diving school then he'll be put on a Sub (again!) Dayna won't be able to join him and make married life togther until May when she graduates. She'll be a licensed Nurse Practioner then.

I've got to go..Wayne will be home anytime now. He's taking me out for dinner.

Looking forward to being back AND GOING BACK ON WW!!!! I gained so much weight

Love all...

Happy Birthday Sherry!

Cheryl, If there is any way you can take both classes, take them. Are they both heavy on reading or are they different? As a teacher, I think no education is wasted, but even with that said, I would not want a student to be in my classes and stressed out over the work. I would rather someone take one class at a time, learn the material and enjoy the journey of the education, rather than be stressed and worried about money, getting homework done, and well basically life. The actual journey of your education is as important to you as the degree at the end. Enjoy the journey, if you do, you will never stop learning even after leaving school.

Just got home from WW where I am up half a pound. With all the Christmas cookies I ate, I am thrilled! Back on track now. Going to change WW days, and go to meeting on Tuesday. We like that leader so much more, much more motivating to me, so going to switch. Also works better for this semester's schedule.

Sherry-Thank you for the pictures. The wedding looked beautiful. Are you very close with Dayna? I know you will be a wonderful MIL (hopefully your DIL is wonderful also!) Is Wayne a proud FIL? How is his finger? How is Debbie? I am so glad that you both are still best friends. Is she still at the middle school? I wish she would make it back over here also. I guess I'd better quit asking questions.

Ladies, I have been sweet-free for 3 days!! I am taking it 1 day at a time, and might make the weekends my sweet days. That will give me something to look forward to, and also that's when I do my long runs or bike rides so I have an excuse If anyone would like to join my sweet free (actually, it's sugar free, not splenda free) challenge, please do!

A very convaluted pro/con list:

For the class that I've decided to take, there are 10 required novels--all by D.H. Lawrence or Aldous Huxley. That in itself is a load. The other class is a Medieval Literature class, which focuses on Norse literature rather than British, like most Medieval classes do. I think the reading list for that class is only 4 or 5 works, but they're "heavy" reading.

The class I'm taking is 1 night/week (Tuesday) from 5:00 to 7:45 and the other is T/R from 9:30-10:45. I wouldn't be able to attend the morning class because I've used my vacation time to less than 80 hours and I don't want it to go any lower right now. I don't like the idea of taking a class that I never attend, even though he told me he'd do it like an independent study. I just don't know what to expect from that.

Then there's the money aspect of it--I'm paying out of pocket (on credit cards) and I really don't want to charge $1,400 right now. See, I have really good excuses for not taking the class--the guilt just outweighs the excuses!!! Guilt, guilt, guilt.......

If I take both classes, I'll only need one more class to graduate, which means I'd be able to take my comps and (I hope) graduate in December. If I only take the one I'll graduate in May of 2008.

Sigh!!!!

Cheryl, can you go to this prof and ask what he/she is teaching in the summer (if you take summer classes) or fall. Maybe that will help you decide. We know a couple years ahead what we are teaching, subject to change due to enrollment numbers, but we do have some idea.
The two you are talking about, seem like a heavy load, so that is one very good consideration. I do know, taking a class as a independent study is difficult but I find them more interesting, as I can go at my pace, not the classes. I am more of an independent learner, so if you are, that is another pro, if you aren't an independent learner, it is a con.

Have had a very productive day here, making a chicken soup! Also a sweet potato chicken dish for dinner in the crock pot. Both dishes are on WW core, so that is good to get back on track. Even got up and did an exercise DVD! Now off to shower and get ready to tackle the laundry mountain!
